Veteran John Forbes pitched a complete game 2 hit shutout striking out 10 as the Bombers beat a scrappy Savin Hill team 1-0. The lone run was in the seventh as Siena bound Jason Defillippo hit a two out triple followed by a run scoring single by Steve Donovan. The Bombers finished the season by winning 9 of their last 13.

A beautiful Saturday night for baseball saw a major contingent of vocal and enthusisastic Chelsea Royals fan make the trek to scenic and historic Ronan Park in the secluded area of historic Dorchester.

Hats off to their fans! They were great and showed enthusiastic support for their team. We should all be as lucky to have such great fans like the Royals.

The home team was able to hold on to a slim lead and squeeze out an exciting victory over a determined foe to preserve victory for the Dorchester home team.

The two YBL cellar dwellers put on a thrilling show for the fans with hard play, good sportsmanship and a love for the game of baseball.

Nate Renteria went 5 solid innings in leading the Bluefish to a 8-1 win on Friday Night over Savin Hill. After the first 4 Hornets reached base in the first, Renteria bounced back to strike out the side, and was solid the rest of the way. Offensively, the Bluefish received 2 hits a piece from Michael Norsen, Kit Kadlec, and Ryan McCrann. The win dropped the Bluefish's magic number for clinching a playoff spot to 1.

John Kostas threw 1-hit shutout ball for 6 innings, and Paul Bonner threw a perfect 7th inning as the A's defeated Savin Hill 5-0.

Matt Thayer and Chris Bucci led the offense with 2 hits and an rbi each, while Chris Malloy reached base 4 times with a walk and three hit-by-pitches.

Chili Davis' 4th inning single proved to be the only hit of the game for the Hornets, who kept the game close with solid defense.

McKay Club prevailed in the mad-cap rivalry with Savin Hill on Friday night. The Bull Dogs commited 7 errors and the Hornets were stung by 6. John Pagel survived and allowed only 3 hits to help his hapless team win its 10th game after losing 8 in a row. The game was halted in the bottom of the 6th due to the convulsive thunderstorm that buried Boston in 3 inches of rain. MERCY - there is a God!

After a slow start, the Braves came back with 14 runs on 10 hits for the victory over Savin Hill. Tom Feeley had a career day with 2 hits including a homerun and 6 RBIs. Scott Wentworth had 3 hits, 3 runs and 3 RBIs. Wentworth also closed the door on the Hornets going the last 3.1 innings and not allowing any runs or hits.

Chili Davis and Rafael Martinez had the hits for the Hornets.

Jumping out to a 3 -2 lead in the first inning South End pitcher Elvin Bautista faced only 13 Savin Hill batters posting 3 up and 3 down in the 2nd, 4th and 5th innings to hold onto his slim lead.

But the Hornets bat's came alive in the bottom of the sixth as pitcher Joe Priestley lead off with a base hit getting to second on an errant throw.

Josh Hutchings (Whitman/Hanson) drove in the tieing run with a solid base hit. A base hit by Chili Davis (Whitman)and a hit batter loaded the bases with one out.

Paul Tritter's (J.P.) perfect squeeze bunt plated the go ahead run and the following batter rookie Rob Henry (Quincy) cracked a 2 RBI base hit.

That was all starting pitcher Priestley needed as he struck out the side in the top of the 7th to close out a dramatic come from behind victory for the Hornets.

After an hour of work on the field the game started at 2:00 o'clock as rescheduled with the cooperation of Walter Bentson and the SSUA umpires.

Southie's young rookie pitcher Chris Dacey matched up against Savin Hill rookie Josh Hutchings (Whitman/Hanson)and both pitched exciting solid games.

Hutch contributed offensively to his cause with 3 hits and an RBI to lead the Hornets to an upset victory over the ever dangerous Southie ball club.

Batting out of the eigth spot, former Hornets scorekeeper, Paul Tritter's (Hyde Park) big 2 run RBI basehit in the 2nd inning spotted the Hornets a 3-0 lead and the defensive held on for the well earned upset victory.

YBL veteran Barry Masterman (Brighton Braves) closed the game for the Hornets with the tieing run at the plate getting 3 fly ball outs to right fielder Dan Kenney (Roxbury Latin) who had 6 putouts.

Brookline pitcher Chris Arenda must be wondering where the truck that hit him came from as he was cruising along with a comfortabel 6 run lead and pitching a no hit shutout until the 5th.

5 walks, 2 hits, a hit batter and an error later Savin Hill had plated 8 runs to take the lead.

Savin Hill rookie pitcher Ricky Dolan pitched his way out of trouble in the 6th and 7th to close the deal and record his second win of the season.

Peter Needham struck a single and plated Brendan England to win a hard-fought contest in the bottom of the 8th inning at Ronan. Savin Hill pulled out all the stops and battled to the end. Rabitt Anderson made two game saving catches. John Nee and Joe Valdanbrini battled all night. A great Dorchester rivalry continues!

Young rookie Josh Hutchings (Whitman/Hanson HS) took the baseball to the mound on a beautiful clear perfect baseball evening and pitched a solid game thru 6 innings. Leaving after the 6th with a 10-3 lead he had to sweat a little as the Cambridge Yankees managed to creep back into the game.

The suspense ended as the Yankees with 2 down and bases loaded had the tieing run on first.

A bang/bang play at first base ended the threat and the game giving relief pitcher Joe Priestly a very scary save as well as the putout.

Quinn Ryan shook off a rough start and went 5 innings for the win, giving up 7 hits, 5 runs, while walking 2 and striking out 3. Kit Kadlec pitched 2 perfect innings to pick up his league leading 4th save. Offensively, the Bluefish received multi-hit games from Mike Escolas (3-4, 2 doubles), Ryan McCrann (3-3, 1 RBI), Al Becker (2-4). Omar Kennedy reached base 3 times, scoring 3 runs, and stealing 3 bases. Savin Hill received multi-hit games from Chili Davis (2-3) and Dave Bonnell (2-3).

Rookie Savin Hill pitcher Ricky Dolan got his first victory in the YBL and the Hornets earned their second 'W' of the season.

The pesky Hornets were buzzing the basepaths stealing 9 bases in the rain shortened game.

The Braves made the game interesting as they had the game tying run at the plate when the skies opened up, drenching players and equipment and sending everyone scurring about the field grabbing equipment, bags, bats & helmets as the men in blue called a halt to the game so players could swim to safety.

Savin Hill, having faced 8 opponents with a combined record of 41-18-1 was looking for a chance to break through and post up a long awaited victory.

Lead by young 18 year old pitcher, Josh Hutchings' 4 hit, 6 strikeout performance the Hornets finally exploded on offense with 18 hits including two home runs to earn their first victory of the season.

The long balls were belted by leftfielder Joe Priestly, a solo shot, and two batters later by catcher Joe Valdenbrini who cranked a 2-run dinger.

The Chelsea Royals put up a good fight playing solid defense in the field and with aggresive base-running skills.
