On this hot, sunny, muggy day it looked like a route was on the way when South Boston Saints left handed batter CF Masseso crushed a fast ball off Savin Hill starting pitcher Pat O'Toole for a GRAND SLAM HOMER that screamed over the center fielder's head at cavernous McConnell Park. But, the Hornets would answer quickly with 4 runs in the bottom half of the 2nd, then added a go ahead run in the 4th. Savin Hill rookie pitcher John Kostas entered the game after only 3 days rest and proceeded to shut down the vaunted Saints attack to preserve a slim victory for the Hornets. This did not come easy as the Saints had the tying run on third with 2 outs but a spectacular 6-3 play by Hornet SS Pat O'Toole closed out the game and captured the victory.

The most heated rivalry in the YBL locked up for another classic tonight in front of the Comcast cameras with East Boston defeating South Boston 3-1. The Blue Sox have rallied to win late in the game 3 times this week. The Sox were trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the 5th with one out when Dave DiCenso reached on Romero's error, Mike Vatalaro walked, Pat Moore followed with an RBI FC, Moore then stole second and came all the way around to score on an errant throw from Murphy that skipped by the CF giving the Sox a 2-1 lead. The Sox padded the lead in the 6th with a single from Chris Bucci and an RBI single from Mike Navarro. A tremendous pitching performance by the Rockies staff was the difference in this game. Bryan Gauvin threw 4 innings, striking out 11 batters to get his 1st victory. Mike McCarthy rebounded from his last outing to collect his 1st save by pitching 3 scoreless innings, striking out 4, and allowing just 1 hit. Offensively, Dave Mitrou was 3-4,1RBI,1SB and Jim Wieties collected a pair of hits in the evening going 2-4, 1SB. South Boston's Joe Berese scored their only run of the game with aggressive baserunning, stealing 2B and scoring as he forced an errant throw as he tried to steal 3rd as well.

South Boston exploded for 9 runs in the bottom of the 5th to break open a 2-2 tie. Tim Dacey improved to 2-0 on the season pitching a complete game. The offense was paced by Jon Tenney who went 3-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Jason Lewis and Josh Norse pitched in with 2 hits each. East Boston was lead by leadoff hitter Moore who was was 4-4 and missed the homerun for the cycle. South boston improves to 2-1 while East Boston dropps to 1-2.
