Smith throws another gem, striking out 8 to improve his record to 5-3. Smith allowed back to back singles to Higgins and Gonzalez to open up the game and then allowed another to Cox in the 3rd but that would be it.

Braves load the bases in the 3rd on singles by Uberti and Robb, sandwiched around a Joyce walk. Tracy drives 2 in on a fly to left-center and Walsh plates Robb on a liner to left.

Pinch hitting for Walsh in the 6th, McLaughlin hit an absolute bomb to center but his hammy brought him down rounding 1st resulting in one of the longest singles in YBL history.

Bobby Freeman settles in and goes 5 giving up 3 runs to improve to 6-0. After a slow start at the plate, the A's strung together some hits, putting up a 4 spot in the bottom of the 5th to take the lead for good. Steve Lambert tacked on a run in the bottom of the 6th with a deep fly to steal the save from Finigan who slammed the door in the 7th.

Bonner came in to close out the game for Stoneham.

The Sabers would get on the board first with a passed ball that would score Pizarro.

Quezada and Cave would hit back to back double to help start a 4th inning rally. Lenane and Luciano would follow with RBI singles later on in the inning.

The Sabers would add 3 more in the 7th.

In a pitching matchup for the ages the Townies edged out the Beacons 1-0 in 8 innings. Chris Delouchrey struck out 18 Townies in 8 innings of work and Noah Zavolas struck out 15 Beacons in 7 innings of work.

With the game tied in the bottom of the 8th inning, the Townies loaded the bases with the speedy James Beaton on third base after leading off the inning with a hit by pitch. Beaton scored the winning run on a past ball.

Ryan Souza picked up the win for the Townies, coming in in the 8th inning and striking out the side.

Boston, MA-Sean Sullivan continues his winning ways in the Yawkey League, improving to 5-0 on the year with the 6-4 win for the Red Army. Sullivan went 5+ innings allowing only 2 earned runs.

The Somerville offense was powered by Mike Maguire going 3-4 with 2 RBI's. Billy Karalis also lead off the game with a triple.

McKay came out swinging in the first with a homerun by Moreta to lead off the bottom of the first. Kantardzic also hit a inside the park homerun in the 6th.

Skoczylas kept the Somerville bats quiet for the first 5 innings.

Braves pitching Ks 12 & Uberti comes through twice in the clutch to get the walk-off win in 9.

Braves open in the 2nd on a Bere BB with the bases loaded. McKay answers the next inning when Foley singles in Rittenhouse. They take the lead in the 6th on a smart base running play by Higgins (3B). On a slow grounder in front of the mound, Higgins took off as soon as it was thrown to first and beat the ensuing throw home.

In the 7th, McLaughlin gets on with a pinch-hit walk. Skoczylas Ks the Braves 1 and 2 hitters but pinch runner, Sammarco, gets to 2nd and 3rd on a failed pick-off attempt and wild pitch. Uberti comes through with a liner to right to tie it.

DeFusco with a pinch-hit BB in the 9th. Pinch runner, Sherman, gets to 2nd on a wild pitch and to 3rd on a Glantz grounder to 2nd. Again Uberti comes through with a 2 out liner to left to end the game.

Foley (2-4, RBI) and Higgins (2-4, 3B, R) led the McKay Club offense.

Evan Vallera steps back on the mound in Yawkey league action for the first time in a few years and he did not disappoint throwing 5 innings of 3 hit 1ER ball. The bats would wake up a little bit tonight with 6 runs on 6 hits. The biggest hit of the night was a 3 run bomb from Kenny "No Power" Luongo in the first inning which gave the knights a 3-1 lead that they wouldn't give up. Vallera with the win and shep with the lock down save.

The ATBC boys continue the momentum with a win at Rogers. Veteran Bill Clang records the 51st win of his illustrious Yawkey career and the 400th strikeout to improve to 2-0 on the year. Disciplined and productive at-bats won the day as the entire Athletic line-up contributed to the tally of 5 runs to propel ATBC to victory.

Sabers defeat the Beacons 7-2 on Opening Day at Recreation Park

Dave Monteverdi got the start for the Stoneham, pitching 5 strong to earn his 1st win of the season.

The Beacons would strike first by plating Ramirez in the top half of the first inning.

However, the Sabers would strike back when Angelo Colucci would hit in Derek Pizarro to tie the game.

In the 2nd, Eric O'Brien would single and eventually score on a passed ball and the Sabers would take the lead for good.

Stoneham would plate 5 more runs in the 3rd and 4th innings by taking advantage of Beacon Miscues.

Joey Zampell and Mike Bonner closed out the game.

Rob Sutton reached base all 3 times for Stoneham.
