Luke Barkowski tossed a 4 hit shut out to keep the Beacons hopes alive! It was the 1st YBL victory for the 20 year old Dort Rat.

Jack Owens & Drew Tambling had 2 hits each. Each scored 2 runs & had an RBI. Alex Rockiki had 2RBI with a single. Kyle McKay went behind the plate after a long time and struck a 2RBI double in the first.

Yes, the Mmen win...

Trailing by three in the 8th, the M-Men rally in walkoff fashion and beat the South End Astros by a score of 5-4.
After loading the bases, the Astros bring in the closer to quell the rally. After falling behind in the count, the batter Fitmaurice delivers with a hit to right driving in two. Will Bermel then follows with a SAC fly to Center setting the stage for Mike Nardelli, who rips the ball through the infield and drives in the winning run.

Ryan Bere picks up the victory in relief for starter Kevin Zylka who pitched effectively for 6 strong.

Chris Deane, a newcomer to the pitching mound, was equally impressive for the Astros scattering several hits over 7+ innings of work.

Kyle Power & Greg Dubela chipped in with 2 hits each. Bian Mylett had an RBI Sac fly and a big double in the 7th.

Minutemen carried a 3-1 lead into the 6th when the Rockies bats would finally wake up.

Wong would lead off with a double, Santosuosso worked a walk and Adam Del Rio stroked a double to left center to cut the deficit to 1. With the infield in, Pete Oggeri lined a single to left scoring Del Rio and Santosuosso to put the Rocks up 4-3, a lead that Rich Wlodarczyk did not relinquish, picking up the win in relief, retiring all 8 batters he faced, striking out 3 in relief of starter Matt Magazine.

Nationals finally came to play today. Matt Bernstein pitched a complete game 2 unearned runs on 5 hits. Jake koch was two for two with a run scored and two rbi's. Justin Curley had another good game at the plate he had one hit that scored two ended up with run scored and 3RBI. Barthel created alot of problems for the Nationals as he was 3 for 4 with a run scored and 1 RBI

Braves make it 6 in a row as Lochiatto goes 4 picking up the win in his first start, Marcus throws 2 in his first appearance on the bump for the Hold and Lee throws 1 to finish things out.

Offensively, Lee scored thrice and Robb (R, 2 RBI, BB, SB) and Smith (R, 2 RBI, BB) extend their hitting streaks to 12 & 7, respectively. Web gem of the night comes in the 6th as Tracy takes a hit away from Campos on another diving grab in shallow left-center.

Ahearn homers for the Minutemen for the second time against Braves pitching. Ironman award goes to Barthel who battled for 2 innings on the hill despite an arm injury, giving way to Palumbo who quieted the Braves bats the rest of the way.

James Katsiroubas ripped a single, triple and homerun with 5 rbi's to lead the Al Thomas Club to a 14-1 drubbing over the Minutemen.

Dakota Happas (2 rbi), Freddi Carrera (2 sb), Brendan Wheeler, Steve Lambert (2b)and Bill Donahue (2 triples) each had 2 hits to lead the offensive assault that produced 6 extra base hits, including 4 triples.

Katsiroubas, John Kostas and Tom Trull each scored 3 runs.

Mike DeMille tossed 5 innings of 2-hit ball to pick up the win, adding 6 strikeouts.

Segel scored Brighton's run after doubling and coming home on an infield hit by Alicea.

The Malden Bulldogs defeated the Brighton Minutemen 3-1. Evan Hafferman pitched a masterful game. He had 11 K's while surrendering just 3 hits and 1 run. Tonight's Bulldogs offense was led by Anthony Perry & Troy Thibodeau with 2 hits and 1 RBI each. The Bulldogs other run was supplied by Kevin Salines delayed steal of home. Gordon Thomas of Malden also celebrated his 1st "YBL" hit of his young career. A blast to Right-Center Field for a stand up double.

Rob MacDonald pitches 5 strong and the Sabers defeat the Minutemen 7-1 in a rain shortened game

MacDonald threw 5 innings, letting up only 2 hits, on 1 earned run, striking out 4 batters, to earn his 3rd win of the season

Sabers would jump out in front early. After a pair of singles by Stefan Botarelli and Ryan Flanagan. Mike Robinson would hit a sac fly to score Botarelli. Later in the inning MacDonald would hit an RBI single and Zack Graham would add an RBI of his own

The Sabers would add 2 more in the 2nd. Flanagan would score on a throwing error and Angelo Colucci would single in Mike Robinson

In the 5th Nick Schauwecker would single in Colucci and Joe Parlow would single in Rob MacDonald

MacDonald would turn into speedy gonzalez pitching a quick 1-2-3 5th as the rain came down to make the game official

MacDonald had 2 hits and Colucci, Flanagan and Adams reached based all 3 times for Stoneham

DORCHESTER, MA..The Knights and Minutemen faced off on a hot and steamy evening at Ronan Park for the first of 2 games between the clubs this season. The Knights sent Sean Hannon to the bump for the home town team and he did not disappoint. Hannon went 5 innings allowing 1 run (unearned) capturing his first win of the season. Kenny Luongo pitched the 6th and 7th striking out the side in the 7th to close out the game for the Knights.

The Knights trailing 1 - 0 in the 4th inning exploded for 5 runs in the frame capped off by a Brad Tardungo double laced to left-centerfield to drive in 2. Jose Paulino, Kenny Polonco and Wilson Mercado all had 2 hits for the Knights as they went on to win 7 - 4.

Nate Hodor went 3 for 4 with a lead-off triple in the sixth and a 2-run double in the 7th. For Brighton, Dana Levensaler cruised through 5 inning giving up only 2 hits before the roof caved in.

The Sabers would get on the board in the 3rd. Mike Robinson and Jon Chapman would both reach base, when Ryan Flanagan would smack on what would be a game winning 3 run home run into the courts

In the 4th MacDonald would help out his own cause, hitting a 2 RBI single to center

Braves overcome 2 errors in the 7th to hang on for the win. Lankarge improves to 2-0, going the distance once again, and Braves newcomer Brandon Anderson scores both runs with some heads-up base running.

Anderson scored in the 3rd on a Sac Fly off the bat of Smith and in the 7th on a single up the middle by Schools. Schools and Uberti had 2 hits apiece for the Braves.

Ahearn had 2 hits for the Minutemen.

Pitchers dual at the "Wood" tonight.

Andrew Guido (Salem St.) of Malden takes a no hitter into the 7th with 1 out only to be broken up by Mike "Big Game" Barthel with a game tying double to deep center and who also pitched a gem himself. Brighton goes ahead 2-1 heading into the bottom of the 7th only to have Malden tie it up and eventually get the win in the 9th inning on a Kevin Salines (Salem St.) base hit that plated Rob Marks (Suffolk Univ). Jeff Allison gets the win in 2 innings of relief.

Minmen get their first win behind workhorse Jon Sargent. Sarg throws a 7 inning CG with 6 k's.

Minmen lead 5-2 into bottom of the 6th when Maddogs plate 2 to make it 5-4. Top 7th, runners on 1st and 2nd, 2 outs, Mike Nardelli singles sharply to left and the ball gets past the outfielder, allowing both runners to score. Nardelli who was at third after the error, then scored on a sac fly from Ryan Bere. Bere had a big day, looking very sharp on D at 3B and going 2-3, with a 2B, 2 RBI, and a run offensively.

J.T. Ross took a no hit bid into the sixth only to have it broken up by Dan Segal who doubled to left.

Big day offensively for the Sox.
Ryan Gaffney (3-5), Will Baker (2-5), Aqib Shah (2-4) and Tim Varakis (2-2) all had multi-hit games.

The Braves improve to 2-0 as Mike Smith goes 5 strong (1 ER, 3 H, 7 K) to get the win in his Braves debut. His only blemish was a homer deep to right off the bat of Nick Ahearn in the 3rd.

Nine different Braves had hits in the game. Tied 1 all in the 6th, Risk clubbed a monster triple to left to start the Braves rally. RBI singles by Cashman, Kerbin, Caminiti, Anderson and Hudson pushed the Braves out on top for good.

Minutemen made it interesting in the 7th scoring 2 runs after loading the bases with no outs. Schlesinger stopped the bleeding with a strikeout, a ground out and a little help from his defense to earn the save. With 1 out and the bases still loaded, Levensaler singled to center to score one run, but a perfect relay from Anderson to Uberti to Risk cut down the runner from second trying to score.

Ahearn went 2-3 for the Minutemen with a homer, RBI and 2 runs scored.

The Astros came to a damp Jim Rice Field starving for some real baseball. Finally, after 4 months in the cages, they got it!

Starter Milciades Santana threw 6 strong shutout innings striking out 8 and only giving up 2 hits. Jonathan Matos and rookie closer Eddy Morrobel finished off the 7th inning striking out the side.

At the plate the Astros were lead by veteran Chris Deane (2-2, 2RBI, BB), and Josh Valerio (2-3, 2R), and Miguel Rodriguez (2-3). Francis Reyes, Paul Politsopoulos, Moises Maza, Rommel Peguero, and Alex Weldon also had a hit each.

Great way to start the season!
