Brewers take game 1 behind a strong offensive outburst, complemented by a great complete-game effort by starter Troy Sainsbury. Troy held the Bluefish to just 2 runs and 3 hits, despite walking 8 batters due to a tight strike-zone. Marc Hordon went 2-2 with a 2-run homer to lead the offense. Will Lawton and Tony Iafolla each added RBI triples to the Brewers' cause. Sean Glavin went 2-3 with a double and a triple to lead the Bluefish offense.

The Malden Bulldogs played today with very heavy hearts. We would like to thank Somerville, who is a show of class, wore black armbands and participated in a pre-game moment of silence. We won the game today as a team for our fallen coach who died in a sincere act of bravery. We would like to thank all the members of the YBL who have reached out to us. Kevin Christina stole the stage in this one... and it was a relatively big stage, as it was a decisive Game 5. Kevin allowed only 1 ER and 5 hits en route to the complete game victory. The Brewers jumped out to a 2-run lead in the bottom of the first, as Mike Maguire hit the first Rockies pitch of the game for a ground-rule double. Marc Hordon drove in Maguire with a triple, later scoring on a Tony Iafolla single. Maguire and Hordon scored two runs each, which gave Kevin Christina all the breathing room he would need. Mike McCarthy pitched 2 1/3 innings of shutout relief to give the Rockies offense a chance to come back. Kevin Spitz collected his team-leading 7th hit of the series on a solid liner to left, scoring the Rockies' only run. Brewers win series 3-2.
