Will Clang scattered 8 hits on route to a complete game 7-2 victory to put Al Thomas up 2-1 in the best-of-five series.
Steve Lambert had three hits, a stolen base and 2 rbi's while Chris McDonough (rbi double) and John Kostas (2-run triple) each had 2 hits to pace the offense.
John Young pitched well for the Bluefish, but was victimized by some costly errors. Resto, Perry and Billig collected 2 hits apiece for West Roxbury.
Condolences to Bluefish coach Mike Freire on the passing of his mother on Tuesday. Mike and his family are in the thoughts and prayers of the Al Thomas Club and the entire Yawkey League. |

Mitch Monke threw a 5-hit, complete game for the win as the A's put up 6 in the 5th to take game one of the semifinals 6-3 over West Roxbury.
Will Clang and Steve Lambert had rbi singles before Chris McDonough launched a 3-run homer to right. Solid defense again was the key for Al Thomas, as its only error was a ball that deflected off of a runner in an attempt to double him off first base after a line drive out to center.
Hordon and Laffin had 2 hits apiece to lead the Bluefish. |

AlThomas Athletics 8, South Boston Saints 5
Al Thomas scored 3 in the 7th to tie the game, then 3 in the 13th inning to win the game and take the series. Kudos to the heroic performance by Saints' pitcher Steve Hueston, who pitched into the 10th inning on 2 days rest, after throwing a complete game victory on Friday night. He left in the 10th to a standing ovation from the entire park. Congrats to both teams on a well-played, tough series.
Matt Quigg tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, then James Katsiroubas came in and threw 7 innings of 4-hit shutout baseball with 7 k's to pick up the win. Katzy also singled in the tying run in the 7th after a double by John Kostas and triple by Steve Lambert.
Mark Daly's grounder in the ss hole proved to be the game winner. Kostas drove in the 3rd run of the inning to cap the scoring for the Thomas Club, which advances to the semifinals for the first time since 2005. The A's played their 4th consecutive playoff game without an error.

Ryan Dauley homered, tripled and drove in 3 runs to lead the Al Thomas Club to a 13-8 win over the Hornets. Mitch Monke struggled with his command, yet battled through 5 innings to pick up the victory, while helping his own cause with a single, double and a triple.
Steve Lambert continued his torrid pace, going 3-5 with a double, 2 rbi and 3 stolen bases, while Mark Daly collected his first 3-hit game of the season. James Katsiroubas ripped a single, double and triple and pitched 2 scoreless innings to close out the game.
