Brookline's Marty Whitmore pitches 6 shutout innings in a duel with Black Sox left-hander J.T. Ross in Hyde Park. Whitmore (W, 2-2) allowed only 2 hits while striking out 5 and walking 3 in a great effort for the Dodgers.
Brookline rookie SS Derek Barauskas hit a 1-out triple to RF to get the Dodgers going in the 3rd, and CF Jay Shatto drove Barauskas in on a Sac Fly on the next pitch. Brookline would add a 2nd run in the 5th inning, with LF Joe Patrolia leading off with a single, stealing second and scoring on RF Steve Walsh's base-hit up the middle. Shaun Farrar comes in for his 1st save of 2008, closing the game out and a 2-0 win for Brookline.
Black Sox pitcher J. T. Ross (L, 1-2) pitched great, allowing only 4 hits over his 6 innings of work, with 7 K's and only 1 walk. The Dodgers and the Black Sox both played great defensively, with neither team making an error. |
