Harbor Point Dodgers 9, Somerville Alibrandis 6
Brookline comes through with its biggest win of the year, when they needed it most, with a 9 to 6 win over Somerville at Trum Field.
Marc Skipper (1-1) pitched six innings of 6-hit ball, striking out only 2, but keeping the Somerville bats off balance. Skip got a lot of help from his defense, getting 3 double plays from his infield. LF Marty Whitmore took the hill for the 7th and got a double play from 2B Andy Zides to SS Jerrad Ryan to 1B Zvi Dubitzky to end a heavy threat. 3B Matt Jack made the catch of the season to rob a scorcher from SS Dave Scioli (3 for 4, 2 3B, 2 RBI) in the 5th.
All around great win for Brookline. Zides, Whitmore & CF Jay Shatto all had 2 RBI. RF Steve Walsh, the Dodgers hottest bat, had 2 hits in the win. Whitmore & C Bryan Duffy added a double each.
The Dodgers had 8 hits, incluiding 4 hits in a row in the 3rd off SP Steve Szathmary. They also added 3 more steals for a league leading 61. |
