GUT CHECK AT REVERE HIGH SCHOOL The Tony Conigliaro Memorial behind the backstop of the well manicured Revere High School baseball diamond was a witness to this bare-knuckle 10 inning old fashioned dog fight between the home team Rockies and the visiting Hornets. This showdown at high noon quickly became a pitching and defensive battle between two opponents, neither of whom would yield and inch, in the sweaty, blistering, stiffling sunshine. Twice the Hornets called for IBBs on power hitting DH Dan Jalbert who had gone 3 for 3 in previous at bats and the strategy paid off as the Hornets were able to keep Revere from capitalizing on scoring threats. Perhaps the spirit of Tony C, God rest his soul, helped the Hornets as their manager made a private, quiet visit to his Memorial and paid his respects to the Sox legend.
