HORNETS OUTDUEL SAINTS In another great YBL pitching duel the Hornets squeak past the Saints scoring the winning run in the bottom of the sixth after LF Steve Mellor walked, stole second, then streaked home on 3B John Higgins clutch base hit spoiling Southie pitcher Eric Quinn's masterful pitching performance. Hornets' battery of P Mike Stefaniak and C Kyle Browne contributed greatly to the team's victory with a rally stopping pick off and two caught stealing assists. The Hornets for the 2nd time in a row are out hit but win on stellar defensive plays as the infield chalks up 12 assists. The defensive play of the game was the tremendous catch by South Boston LF Powers whose spectacular running catch robbed Hornet LF Steve Mellor of an extra base hit.
