Both teams offense and defense took the day off Sunday, as a great pitchers duel unfolded between two of the top pitchers in the league: Jon Tenney and Mike McCarthy. The Rockies scored in the first as Chad Conner delivered an RBI single to score leadoff man Pete John and took that 1-0 lead into the 6th inning. In the sixth, South Boston loaded the bases with nobody out and scored 2 runs on a throwing error to take the lead. The Baseball Gods must have been smiling down on the Rocks in the seventh though. With two outs and runners on second and third, a Jon Tenney splitter got by the Southie catcher and Close scored from third with the tying run -- right behind him was heads-up pinch-runner AJ Bucciarelli as the throw back to Tenney covering the plate got by him. The two teams combined for only seven hits, but made four costly errors.
