The brisk cool breeze that drifted over the Savin Hill Bay onto McConnell Park brought the faint odor of an upset in the making. Strike out king Aiden Powers of the AT Club got touched up in the opening inning as Savin Hill catcher Buddy Murphy, with bases loaded, blasted a 3 run double to spot his team a 4 run lead. Powers then settled down and pitched a strong game but the Savin Hill defense made all the plays to keep his club at bay. None more dramatic than two late inning catches made by Savin Hill LF Rich Higgins. In the top of the seventh with the bases loaded and two down Al Thomas catcher Wilshire unloaded a bomb to deep LF. As the large crowd of spectators held their breath the fleet footed left handed Higgins out ran the flight of the ball then speared it in his outstretched right hand dramatically ending the exciting game... so it goes in the YBL.
