On this hot, sunny, muggy day it looked like a route was on the way when South Boston Saints left handed batter CF Masseso crushed a fast ball off Savin Hill starting pitcher Pat O'Toole for a GRAND SLAM HOMER that screamed over the center fielder's head at cavernous McConnell Park. But, the Hornets would answer quickly with 4 runs in the bottom half of the 2nd, then added a go ahead run in the 4th. Savin Hill rookie pitcher John Kostas entered the game after only 3 days rest and proceeded to shut down the vaunted Saints attack to preserve a slim victory for the Hornets. This did not come easy as the Saints had the tying run on third with 2 outs but a spectacular 6-3 play by Hornet SS Pat O'Toole closed out the game and captured the victory.
