WP: McGovern LP: Wiesner SV: Regan Congrats to the Royals for their first win of the season. The Royals won their first YBL game of the season defeating the tough Hyde Park Bluefish 3-2 Monday night at Chelsea HS. Kevin McGovern went 5 1/3 strong innings to record the win and advance his record to 1-1 on the season,while Frank Regan went 1 2/3 hitless innings to record his first save of the year. Both McGovern and Hyde Park's Al Weisner kept their opposing batters off balance and off the the scoreboard until the bottom of the 5th inning when the Royals Mike Terrio turned on an 0-1 pitch and sent it over the left field fence for a 3run homer. Hyde Park's defense and pitching kept the Royals from any further scoring chances, while the Royals let up 2 quick scores in the top half of the 6th inning. Thats all the Royals would allow while holding on for their first victory.
