Once again, pitching is the name of the game. Samp and Tejada do battle, each throwing complete games. For the Astros, Tejada scatters 5 hits in the tough loss, the only runs scored on sacrifice flies. One from Clarke in the 3rd, and the other from Tapper the 5th on a deep fly to left....one of about 4 balls hit that would have been gone if the wind wasn't involved. Billig remains hot.....maybe warm-ish, I guess, reaching base 3 times via walk. But the story of the night was Eddie "Guns" Samp. Samp took a perfect game into the 5th, but lost that on a slow curveball that hit the batter getting the Astros their first runner of the night. The no-hitter was broken up in the 7th on a grounder up the middle from Uribe. Campbell made a good bid on a tough play, but lost his footing and now owes Samp something tasty in a coconut.
