Somerville Alibrandis Baseball Club opened its 2004 season defeating the Revere Rockies 11-1. The team picked up where it left off last year putting in a solid effort in all phases of the game to help earn their first victory of the season. Pitching was the story as Derek Bates, the two-time defending YBL Cy Young, got the start in the opener and dominated the Rockies, allowing only one base runner in the first 3 innings via a hit by pitch and went three and one-third before allowing a base hit to the Rockies Kevin Spitz in the 4th. In his five innings of work Bates, allowed one run, 2 hits and struck out 10. Scott Rodgers pitched a one, two, three 6th inning and Marc DesRoches stuck out the side to close out the 7th. Alibrandis offense banged out 17 hits as every starter in the game had at least 1 hit.
