The Bay State Pirates picked up their first win of the season in a tough duel with the Spartans. Down 4-0 in the early going, the Pirates plated 8 unanswered runs by grinding out some tough at bats. Ian Sales overcame some early control trouble to pick up the win, while Pirates rookie Alex Hill was solid in the final 2 frames for the save. Offensive stars were Chris Holland who went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI, Nick Melluzzo had 3 RBI (including the go-ahead 2-run single) and rookie Kyle Rumph picked up 1 hit, 2 walks, an RBI and a stolen base to take home his first Pirates chest.
