Sun, 5 May, 10:00AM, at Lakeville - Ted Williams (Game 1 of DH)
Lakeville Pirates 9, Wellesley Orioles 4
After a long road trip down to Lakeville (ok so its
long if you get lost twice) the Orioles lost their season
opener to the Pirates. The O's jumped out to a 1 run
lead in the first but failed to stake their starting
pitcher, Vinney Bertrand, to more then 2 runs. Vinney
held the hot hitting Pirates to 6 runs while striking out
5 and walking 1. He left after 4 innings of work with 5
earned runs. The O's bullpen(David Norman)only
allowed 3 runs in the next two innings but the Wellesley bats
could only come up with 2 more runs hitting just above .200
as a team. On a positive note, the O's looked solid on defense
with the 2 errors coming on hard charging plays. |
