Aidan Powers outdueled Jason Bush in a classic rubber-game showdown as the Al Thomas Club edged the McKay Club 3-2 to take a well-fought quarterfinal series. The A's scored all 3 runs in the 2nd inning on 4 hits as Jim Schindler, Sean Wilshere and Brian Powers delivered run-scoring singles. Aidan Powers made the runs hold up, fending off several McKay rallies, the most notable in the bottom of the 6th, when Chris Malloy gunned down the potential tying run at the plate on a fly ball to right field. Both teams played a tough series, with the McKay Club flashing some great leather in rookies Peter Needham at short and Brendan Smith at third base and centerfield. Congrats to the McKay Club for a strong run to and in the playoffs with a promising group of young players, sprinkled with some diehard veterans. And kudos to the Al Thomas Club for battling back after falling behind 2 games to none in the series.
