Athletics 3, Netherfield Reds 2
The A's take a nailbiter to even the series at 1-1.
The Reds scored one in the bottom of the 1st to take the lead on a Knell RBI single. It would stay that way until the 5th, when Josh Misiph led off with a double off the fence in right center, about 2 feet short of a HR. That run would score when Kyle Breidenstine tried to bunt the runner over, resulting in an error. The next batter was Jay Lamoureux, who put a high fly ball in the pool to make it 3-1.
The Reds would come right back in the bottom of the inning, capitalizing on two A's errors to score a run and load the bases with one out. The A's went to the pen for Breidenstine, who induced Knell into a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning. KB would close the door the rest of the way.
For the Reds, Pina went the distance on the hill.
