Sun, 10 July, 1:30PM, at North Andover - NA HS
Merrimack Valley Marlins 7, Greater Boston Bandits 1
Behind a strong start from Sean ONeill, the Marlins earned a hard fought 7-1 victory over the Bandits.
ONeill was perfect through 4, before a misplayed ball in RF and a double allowed the Bandits to get on the scoreboard first. The Marlins responded quickly, with CJ Good getting a pinch hit double to start the bottom of the frame, with starter Brian Beaudoin re-entering and stealing home as part of the Marlins aggressive baserunning game-plan. During the same at-bat, ONeill drove in Anthony Shea to give the Marlins the lead.
Rookie Kyle Shedden worked as a reliever for the first time this year, coming into the game in the 6th with a 2-1 lead to earn his first save. The Marlins would add 5 runs in the 6th to provide more than enough insurance.
The Marlins will look to continue the momentum next Sunday at North Andover High against the South Shore Giants.
