South End Astros 4, Savin Hill Hornets 4
A well played season opener played by both the Astros and the Hornets.
Astros A. Alvario and E. Rosario both had 2 hit games, while W. Saujurjo knocked in 2 runs. Reliever. Joey Ortiz pitched out of two jams to keep the game tied.
For the Hornets, Freddi Carrera picked up right where he left off last year going 2 for 3 with a walk. Jon Scarfo's 2-run double in third gave Savin Hill a brief lead. Three Hornet relief pitchers held South End scoreless over the final three frames giving up only 1 hit while striking out 7.
The biggest controversy of the game came in the bottom of the sixth when catcher Nate Hodor had apparently given Savin Hill a 6-4 lead on a blast over the right field fence. It was however, ruled foul. |
