The revitalized Mets offense pounded out 20 hits in a 14-5 win against the Orioles. The Mets jumped out to a 7-0 lead behind Adam Hocherman, but the O's rallied in the 5th and got the tying run to the plate with one out. Kit Kadlec came in and induced a double-play on one pitch, and then set the O's down in order in the 6th after a 6-run Mets rally had put the game out of reach. The Mets were led by Al Becker (4 hits, 3 runs, 2 steals, 2 RBIs), Chris Sansone (3 hits, 2 runs, 2 steals, 2 RBIs), Greg Cote (3 hits, 2 runs, 2 steals, 2 RBIs), Kadlec (3 hits, 3 RBIs), Dave McManus (2 hits), Dennis Wassung (2 hits) and Brent Bushong (2 hits). For the Orioles, Chris Arenda was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Al Cacciatore ripped a 2-run double. |
