Talal Saleh threw a complete game. Striking out 7, walking 2 and allowing only 1 earned run. Talal's playoff record is 2-0. His regular season record was 6-0 making him 8-0 on the year.
The Maddogs stole 7 bases, 3 by Maguire and 2 by Cunningham. Maguire also had 3 RBIs.
This win puts Medford into the Finals for the first time. |

Sean Gildea threw the first no-hitter in Maddog history in the YBL. Sean went 5 innings of perfect ball before walking Baker to lead off the 6th. Gildea yielded one more walk in the 7th and that was it. He struck out 7 along the way and the Dog's defense was flawless.
Rockwell pitched well for the Devils giving up only 2 unearned runs and keeping his Team in the game until the 6th inning when Medford got 5 hits and 5 runs. |

After giving up 2 unearned runs in the first inning, Eamonn McDonough settled in for the night and went the distance. Eamonn struck out 7, walked 4 and allowed 7 hits, 3 of them by Davies, including 2 doubles.
Clang pitched well through the first 3 innings, but after a couple of walks and an error the Dogs got 3 consecutive 2-out clutch singles by Cunningham, Maguire and Sablone to put 7 runs on the board.

It was "Turn Back the Clock" night at Trum Field. As both teams worn uni's from old teams...college,high school or of course "The Bad News Bears...Thank you Mike Powers!
With West Roxbury still jockeying for a playoff position. Somerville got strong pitching from Rookie righthander Jared Liederman(4-1)tossing a 3 hit complete game surrendering only 1 unearned run in the first.
Mike Feetham was 4-4 with 2 runs scored, Marc DesRoches 3-3 with another rbi. Multi hit games Dave Scioli, Sal Mendonca and Derek Bates.
The Play of the game was a "Margellan" like catch in right field by Sal Mendonca of a Blast by Phil Davis of Westie. Someone please find Sal a map..........

With a playoff spot on the line for West Roxbury. Somerville and Westie battled at Billings field Friday night. Steve Szathmary facing his old club out dueled Polasky of Westie for a 3-2 victory.
Rockwell drove in 2 with a double in the 3rd to give Westie the lead.Tom McDonough(2-3 and 2RBI's) had a 2 run single to center in the 5th inning driving in the go ahead run.
McDonough also hit a blast to left center in the 7th to get a double and a half as a sniper from the grassy knoll in left took him down.

Rookie Dan McCarthy made his first YBL hit a memorable one as he singled home Jim Flavin with the winning run in the bottom of the 7th.
West Roxbury climbed back with 3 runs in the top of the 7th to take a 6-5 lead. Greg Lovely tripled to open the last frame for Al Thomas and scored on a bloop single by Jim Flavin to tie the game. Matt Hallisey followed with a single and both runners moved up on a ground out to first. McCarthy then laced a 1-1 pitch into the hole at short for the game winner.
John Kostas picked up the win, scattering a plethora of hits and fanning 8 in the complete game.

Brewers put the pressure on the Devils pitching from the start, as Brendan Fenton reached base leading off in 3 of the first four innings. Fenton scored on all 3 occasions, pacing the Brewers to an 8-run outburst through those four innings.
That was all the support starter Kevin Christina needed, as he allowed only 3 hits in 6 innings of work. The Devils threatened late in the game, putting baserunners on in 3 of the last 4 innings, but Christina and reliever Brandon Brewer managed to keep them off the scoreboard, preserving the shutout for the Brewers. |

Ouellette and Farquharson each had 3 hits and 3 RBI apiece. Feeley (1 RBI) and Sicilano each had 2 hits.
Davies led the WR offense with 2 hits. Rockwell took the loss. |

Sean Gildea picked up his third win of the year to improve his record to 3-1. On the hottest day of the summer both Gildea and Rockwell toiled for 5 innings. After 5 the Maddogs led 3-1. Davies hit a bomb to center field to account for the Devils' only run.
The heat finally got to both starters and the Maddogs unloaded for 7 runs in the 6th inning.
Scott Lynch pitched a scoreless 6th for Medford and Sean Morrissey pitched a 1-2-3 7th in his first appearance of the year.
Maguire, Hanley and Lynch each had 2 hits for Medford. Sablone knocked in 3 runs. |

HORNETS BURN DEVILS
WR Devils score in the first inning on young starter Mike Stefaniak (Tufts U) with a base hit, a walk and 3 wild pitches to take an early 1-0 lead.
The Hornets quickly answer in the bottom of the first with 2 runs on 2 doubles and 2 singles to take a slim 2 -1 lead.
The score holds up as the two teams square off in a nail biter as WR pitcher Bromby and SH's Stefaniak pitch shutout ball from there on.
Stefaniak's blazing fastball mows down 10 Devil hitters and their rookie catcher Kyle Browne turns in the defensive gem of the game with an absolute seed that nails Devil's CF Dowling's attempt to steal 2nd in the 3rd inning.
Stefaniak smelling the blood strikes out the side to close out the game in the seventh for his first YBL career win and advancing the Hornet's record to 5-2.
Hornet's veteran hitter David "Bubba" Bonnell goes 3 for 3 in the game giving him the edge over teammate Chili Davis. |

Todesco was outstanding at the plate for EB going 3-4 with a RBI and Adessa added two hits with an RBI. |
