YBL Veteran Sam Cummings, throws a complete game to help the Sabers edge the Townies 2-1 in a playoff atmosphere at Rec Park.
The Townies would start off the game with singles by Santilli and Henneberger. They would later push Santilli across.
In the 3rd, the Sabers would even the ball game on aggressive base running by Flanagan. Colucci would hit a single to left. Flanagan would hustle to take third and capitalize as the ball got by the left fielder and score.
It would be a stalemate until the 7th. Creamer would hit a clutch leadoff single. The Sabers would eventually load the bases with 1 out. Colucci would hit a slow dribbler towards third, to plate Curtin for the walk off win.

Brighton would jump out to a 4 run lead early, but Stoneham would battle back.
In the 3rd, Colucci would hit a 2 out 2RBI single and Chapman would follow with a 2 RBI double to tie the game.
In the 4th, Mogauro would hit a 2 RBI single of his own and Pizarro would follow with a RBI single.
The Sabers would add 2 more insurance runs on a Callahan single and on an over throw on a Colucci stolen base.
Zamparelli had 4 hits for the Black Sox in the loss.

The Saints got on the board first in the 4th. A Downing triple, led to a Wessman sac fly.
The Sabers would battle back in the bottom half. After a Powers' walk and a Chapman single, Colucci would hit a 2RBI triple and he later scored on a wild pitch.
Lumb earned his first win of the season tossing 5 strong innings, striking out 4. Powers would earn the 6 out save, striking out 6 of the 7 batters he faced. |

Colucci smashes a bases loaded walk off triple in extra innings
McNamara tosses 7 strong innings, while striking out 8 Beacons.
Agiorgousis would relieve McNamara to earn a 6 out win.
Beacon's Steeves pitched well all the way through the 9th, until he was relieved.
The Beacons took the lead on three different occasions, but the Sabers battled back.
Tommy Lenane hit a bases clearing triple int he 4th to tie the game.
Peguerro's double got the Beacons back in front in the 9th and they would add 2 more.
In the bottom half, Mogauro, Reynolds, Pizarro would all single to load the bases and Lenane would earn a groundout RBI. With two outs, after a Chapman intentional walk and down to their last strike, Colucci would launch a walk off bases clearing triple.
Agiorgousis would save a run on an overthrown ball from going out of play in the 8th, while making a fade away throw to third to putout the runner. |
