South Shore Giants punch their ticket to the Finals on the back of series MVP Tony Anderloinis who hurls a CG 3 hit 11-0 shutout. Anderlionis struck out 12 and didn't allow a hit until the 5th.
The Giants offensive struck for 4 runs in the 3rd and 5 in the 4th highlighted by 2 run rbi singles from E. Bennett (1-3, 2 Rbi) and Guido LaPietra (2-4, 3 Rbi) and the unceremonious, unclassy departure of Winthrop's starter after only 3.1. The Giants would put a stamp on the night in the 5th on a bases loaded 2 run double from Cap Hamilos (1-1, 2b, 2 Rbi).
The win marked the Giants first playoff series win and first trip to the Finals in their 16 year history. Congratulations to an overall classy Winthrop squad on a great season
Finals of the MSBL American division begins Sunday morning at Newton South H.S. at 10am as South Shore Giants take on the defending champion Newton Red Sox. |
