Kevin Christina stole the stage in this one... and it was a relatively big stage, as it was a decisive Game 5. Kevin allowed only 1 ER and 5 hits en route to the complete game victory. The Brewers jumped out to a 2-run lead in the bottom of the first, as Mike Maguire hit the first Rockies pitch of the game for a ground-rule double. Marc Hordon drove in Maguire with a triple, later scoring on a Tony Iafolla single.

Maguire and Hordon scored two runs each, which gave Kevin Christina all the breathing room he would need.

Mike McCarthy pitched 2 1/3 innings of shutout relief to give the Rockies offense a chance to come back. Kevin Spitz collected his team-leading 7th hit of the series on a solid liner to left, scoring the Rockies' only run.

Brewers win series 3-2.

There's no place like home for the Rockies as they tie the series at 2 games a piece at Revere High and force game 5 Monday night.

The Revere pitching staff got the job done in the heat with Rookie Rich Wlodarczyk posting 1-2-3 innings in 3 of the first four frames. All 3 Brewer runs and 4 of their 5 hits were collected in tough 2nd inning. Bobby Sims took over in the fifth, retiring 6 in a row before being lifted for Marshall Miller in the seventh. Miller finished things up with a strikeout and a double play.

The Rocks bats made some noise in the 3rd as Kevin Spitz (2-3, RBI, 2R) made it a 3-2 game lacing an RBI single to left. The next batter, Ned Coffee then put the home team ahead for good with a 3-run homer over the left field fence. Dan Jalbert added and RBI single in the 6th to cap the scoring.

For the 2nd day in a row, Dan Chapman came in from the Brewer bullpen and shut the Rockies down for the final 3 innings

The Rockies take game 3 of the series at home behind a strong start on the hill by Ken Kilduff. Duffy went 5 2/3 innings pitching a crafty game. Rookie Marshall Miller cleaned up the final 4 outs for his first postseason save.

Offensively, the Rocks were led by Dan Jalbert (3-4, 2B, 2R), Chad Conner (2-2, 2RBI, R, 2HBP) and Nate Laliberte (2-2, 2RBI, 2BB). Rich Dumas (2-4) and Brian Cooper (2-4, RBI) also chipped in with multi-hit games.

Maguire, Lawton and Iafolla all reached base twice for Brighton; anmd Dan Chapman was stellar in relief on the hill.

Game #4 at Revere High tomorrow at 3pm.

The Brewers put up 3 in the 1st inning for the second night in a row. That was enough of a lead for Troy Sainsbury, who was the story in this game. The Brewers starter allowed just 5 hits in the game; the Rockies posted 2 earned runs, but not until the 7th.

Mike Maguire, Will Lawton, and Tony Iafolla all enjoyed multi-hit nights.

Kevin Spitz went 2-3 with a run scored to lead the Rockies offense. Rich Dumas offered two solid innings of relief for the Rockies, allowing just 1 hit and 1 run.

The Brewers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the 1st, keyed by a 2-out 2 RBI double by Brendan Klaes. The Rockies then chipped away at the lead, while Mike McCarthy allowed just one more run in a complete game effort. The score was 4-2 entering the top of the 7th, when a lead-off walk got the Rockies off to a promising start. Kevin Christina then notched 2 consecutive outs to calm things down. But the Rockies gained life with 3 consecutive 2-out singles, which left the score 4-3 with the bases loaded. But Christina was able to secure the last out and the victory, leaving the bases loaded to end the game.

Brendan Klaes' offensive performance was key for the Brewers; he went 2-3 with a double and 3 RBI. Kevin Christina allowed only 1 earned run in his complete game victory.

After a tough 1st inning, Mike McCarthy scattered 5 hits over the final 5 innings. Kevin Spitz had 2 hits, including a clutch 2-out single in the 7th.

Rockies win in the seventh on a bases-loaded, 2-out, tough hop up the middle on the Somerville shortstop.

Rich Dumas provided a start on the hill, hurling 4.1 innings. Leaving after giving up 2 bombs and 4 runs in the 5th to Somerville batters.
Michael Close was the story for the Rocks, mashing a 3-run homer to give the home team the lead in the 5th; Then pitching a perfect seventh for the vulture win. Closey's two 1-inning outings this week were his first appearances on the hill for the Rockies since 2004 with today being his first victory.

Veteran southpaw Ken Kilduff picks up his fourth victory of the season as he turns in 6 strong innings for the win and allows no earned runs. Sims throws a 1-2-3 seventh to close things out.

Jalbert(3-4)and Close(2-3) both drive in runs in the first. Close and Jalbert strike aagin in the third with back-to-back doubles and Cooper added an RBI single in the fifth. However, the story on this afternoon was Dave Mitrou. The veteran Captain centerfielder not only spelled Jalbert behind the dish with stellar defense, he was also an offensive force, going 3-4, lacing a double and picking up 3RBI. Bird.

Gary Moran's 2 run homer to right in the first inning got the rockies of to a great start. The Rocks scored all 5 runs in the first and ace Mike McCarthy took over from there. McCarthy struck out 13 Dodgers in 6 innings to improve to 5-0 on the season.

Rich Dumas added a two-run double in the first and Bobby Sims drove in the fifth Rockies run on a fielder's choice. Jalbert and Mitrou also added hits for Revere.

After a shaky first inning, Dodgers hurler Stephen Defusco settled down and took a tough, complete-game loss.

Ken Kilduff continues the Rockies strong pitching as of late, taking a no-hitter into sixth inning. Rich Dumas finishes up the last 1 2/3 innings in releif to pick up his 3rd save.

Gary Moran goes 3-4 to lead the Rockies bats. Chad Conner reaches base 3 times with a hit, walk and HBP. Steve Corda gave Revere a cushion with a 3 run homer in the sixth.

Rookie Marshall Miller gets the win in his first start for the Rockies. Miller pitched very well to keep the mighty Brewers offense in check for the day.

Multiple hit games by Chad Conner and Kyle Philson led the offense, while Nate Laliberte and Jay Lapointe knocked in 2 runs a piece.

Although he would add a 2nd RBI later in the game, Nate Laliberte's run scoring single in the first was all the Rockies would need on the day. Laliberte turned in a a two hit, 2 RBI performance. Gary Moran and Dan Jalbert also added 2 hits a piece. Excellent pitching and defense took care of the rest.

Nicholson pitched very well for the Sox, throwing a complete game and making very few mistakes, but took a tough loss.
