Another war between South Boston and Malden ended with an explosion, literally!
Rob Stephenson and Adam Del Rio locked up in pitcher's duel. Del Rio went off the bump and went in to play right field in the 8th. He made a diving game saving catch with the game winning run at second base.
Malden scored 2 runs in the 9th with 2 outs. Lenny Carter hit a double and scored on Steve D'Entremont's major league pop up to short right field that fell in. Tom Englehardt followed with a single that plated D'Entremont.
Rob Linn of Southie led off the 9th with a bomb to left that was somehow run down in semi-slow motion by Lenny Carter.
Patrick Shanahan got the win and Jay Wisner the save.
A great battle by 2 great teams.
After the teams shook hands, one of Malden's finest threw back a foul ball onto the field. This Nokonna Pearl was filled with some type of explosive and blew up when it hit the ground!
