Another tight battle between two tough division rivals was decided in the last inning as the Al Thomas Club broke a 1-1 deadlock with 3 runs in the top of the 7th to squeak by the McKay Club 4-2 at McConnell Park. Veteran Mike Barthel of the Beacons locked horns with Al Thomas rookie Kevin Zyrkowski in a great pitching duel that saw the teams knotted at 1-1 through 6 innings. Rob Lerro put the McKay Club up 1-0 with a base hit that drove in Drew Tambling in the first inning. The game stayed that score until the 4th, when Brendan Wheeler roped a tripled and scored on Bill Donahue's single inside the first base line.
