Those one bad inning blues struck South End Astros hard throwing pitcher Santos Gonzales in the 3rd inning as the Hornets plated 6 runs on 4 walks and 3 hits. Ouch!
Hornet pitcher Jay "Doctor" Sholl had his left hand full with the league leading .305 batting Astro hitters. They banged out a whopping 10 hits but the Doctor manged the game well and got key outs when he needed them holding the Astros big hitters to just 5 runs.
Savin Hill's flame throwing closer and catcher Nate Hodor finished the job for the Doctor getting the final out on a blistering fast ball past catcher Juan Hereaux to close out the game.
Savin Hill's pepperpot SS Mike Mori added some excitement in the early going with his inside the park 4 bagger in the 3rd as the speedy shortstop slid safely into the plate just ahead of the relay throw.

In the 3rd, SS Marc Skipper walked on 3-2, and pinch-runner Jarred Ryan stole 2nd. CF Jay Shatto worked another full count walk against Gonzalez. 3B Joe Patrolia sac bunted the runners into scoring position, and Whitmore came through with the 2 run single. He would then score on a single by LF Steve Walsh after 2B Gregg Smith moved Whitmore to third.
The Astros got their run on a double from SS Luis Caraballo, and also got a triple from 3B Harold Gonzalez. Santos Gonzalez had 5 K's and allowed only 3 hits in 6 innings. |
