The Longhorns held on to defeat the Shaskys in a thriller. Well pitched game by Mr. Rivers of the Longhorns... The Shaskys were playing the odd second game of a twinbill with different teams. After the 4th brutal loss in a row, Coach McCarthy was seen running through St. Mary's Park screaming obscenities at trees and mooning squirrels - while nude.

Shaskys 3, Mets 1

 Summary | Box Score
Final 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E
Mets 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 1 7 4
Shaskys 2 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 x 3 6 1

Aristotle Sakellaridis - aka Mugsy in certain circles - forced his 40++ body through 9 innings of grueling heat in full catcher's gear, to coax, coddle, direct and demand a complete game victory from Coach McCarthy in a pitcher's duel that saw the Shaskys play their best defense in 22 years, considering the Unfriendly Confines of Charles Young Field. Joey Diaz pitched splendidly (1 earned run) in a losing effort for a solid Met team that just didn't have the ball bounce their way this particular afternoon. 9 Shaskys showed up and played their best baseball in sweltering conditions that saw Fish Fravola go topless in a 6 inning backwards cartwheel expedition. He was arrested immediately after the game concluded by Parks' Deptartment Rangers.

Titans 6, Shaskys 2

 Summary | Box Score

Shaskys 0 0 0 0 0 2 0 0 0 2 0 0
Titans 1 0 0 4 0 0 0 1 0 6 0 0

The Titans got great pitching and played solid defense. Pines Stavola took the loss, pitching well in defeat after coming back from Kidney and Lung Transplant Surgeries. The Shaskys were a bit in awe and a tad tentative, perhaps trying to be too perfect in a Fairytale come true.

Sat, 8 July, 4:00PM, at Roberto Clemente
Shaskys 12, Athletics 10

 Summary | Box Score
Final 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 R H E
Athletics 1 1 5 0 0 2 0 1 10 0 3
Shaskys 2 1 0 7 0 2 0 0 12 0 7

The Flying Keenan Brothers (Crash -n- Fenders) accounted for a Family Fortune in offense, going 5-8 with a HR (Crash), 5 RBI, 2BBs and a Pocono's-style dugout schtick that kept everyone loose in the early going. Each of the NINE Shaskys had a least a hit (and nearly an error) as the depleted corps outlasted a game A's squad in what seemed to be the longest game in baseball history. Coach McCarthy pitched 5 2/3 in relief to grab the dubya as the defense settled down and made 3 DPs on the day. His battery mate, Aristotle "Mugsy" Sakellaridis (ck spelling) combined with the latter for an"experienced" battery of a combined 87 years. See MeetTheMatts.com for more.

Mon, 12 June, 8:00PM, at Crotona Park
Seminoles 11, Shaskys 1

 Summary | Box Score
Final 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 R H E
Seminoles 0 1 3 1 0 0 2 4 11 0 2
Shaskys 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 9 5

The Seminoles spanked the Shaskys, although it was a better game than the final score, 11-1 (not 14-1), would indicate. The Sems got solid pitching, defense and timely hitting while the Shaskys made key mistakes at critical times and squandered opportunities. Crash Keenan pitched well in defeat (only 2 runs were earned of the 7 plated in his 7 innings) but tip your hat to the Seminoles, who do a fine job of recruiting, housing players and providing luxury automobiles and wads of cash if you happen to be someone who can throw or hit.

Sun, 11 June, 12:00PM, at Randalls Island #20
Longhorns 8, Shaskys 2

 Summary | Box Score
Final 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E
Shaskys 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 1 2 6 4
Longhorns 0 2 0 0 2 4 0 0 0 8 9 1

The Longhorns played a sound all-round game in besting the Shaskys on a beautiful, sunny day on Randall's Island. Timely hitting was the key, as Lip Fravola pitched well in defeat, allowing only 2 earned runs in 6+ innings of work. Fish Fravola followed with scoreless relief but the real story was the excellent pitching of Longhorn Southpaw Quinn, who spotted the ball and used a good fastball to go with his breaking ball.

Clippers 4, Shaskys 3

Shaskys 0 0 0 0 0 3 0 0 0 3 6 6

Former & future teammate, David "Buddy" Diaz gave the Shaskys a blemished Lips and saw to it that the Harlem home team's Crash from the unbeaten ranks would be sour Candy and certainly not Silly. "I just wanted to give it to them on their Mug-sy (reads like Mugs see?)," Diaz said quietly after the game and after his 3 tremendous catches in CF robbed the Shaskys of big hits and big innings. Other former Shaskys shined for the RBI Clippers with Anthony "Fast" Abreu working in a repertoire of curveballs and well, curveballs that made Co-ach McCarthy look as ridiculous as a batter can look. "Frenchy" Elston had a certain Je ne sais quoi at SS, anchoring a stellar Clipper defense. Lips Fravola pitched 9 stupendous innings in rainy goo, allowing 1 EARNED run, while striking out 8. The Shaskys hope to flex their Knuckles in the rematch.

Crash Keenan hit a 3 run bomb and Knuckles Rudelson mashed everything he saw as the Shaskys roared back from 5 run defecit behind the stellar relief pitching of Lips Fravola, who improved to 3-0. Fenders Keenan, Chuck Finnerty and Hubit Chakakov also had big nights with the stick. See MeetTheMatts.com for more....

In an often slopplily played contest at the unforgiving confines of Harlem River Park, the Harlem Shaskys edged the resilient Blue Jays in a seesaw battle. It was an exciting game to watch and be a part of. Crash Keenan pitched well for the Shaskys.
