Somerville wins series 4-1 for their 8th consecutive Championship and 9th in 10yrs.

The story line for the finals was great pitching,hitting and defense beats good pitching everytime. As Alibrandis once again jump out to an early lead posting 3 runs in the first with 3 doubles by the triplets(Scioli,DesRoches and Crisafulli)and an RBI single by Playoff MVP Bernie Driscoll.
League MVP Marc DesRoches(3-0)in the playoffs, pitched a gem giving up just 4 hits and 1 earned run.
Defensive GEM of the game was a diving catch in centerfield by Tom McDonough to save 2runs early in the game to keep Medford off the board.
Well,the rich get richer as YBL 3 time CY award winner, close the game out for Alibrandis.

Somerville bounced back with an offensive display that produced 6 extra base hits of their 10 off undefeated righthander Talal Saleh.
Tom McDonough,Bernie Driscoll and Marc(MVP)DesRoches each Homered and drove in 3 runs.
Mike Rigazio got his first Yawkey League playoff win going 6 strong inning yeilding just 1 hit to the Maddogs. Scott Rodgers pitched a perfect 7th inning recording 3 K's.

Somerville leads the series 3-1.

There's still life in the Dogs. Eamonn McDonough came up big right when Medford needed him the most. After giving up 2 runs in the 3rd Eamonn shut the door, allowing his Team to get back into it.

In the last of the 3rd Johnny Cunningham led it off by getting hit by a pitch. Maguire walked and Sablone singled. Buddy Hanley hit a long fly ball to right scoring Cunningham and advancing Maguire to third. Mike Hudd followed with a base hit up the middle scoring Maguire. Joe Pasciucco plated Sablone with a single down the third base line.

The Dogs picked up an insurance run on a Darren Josey single, a stolen base and a double off the bat of Eric McClafferty.

The defensive play of the game was made by Darren Josey in right field chasing down a DeRoaches bomb out in the shadows.

Somerville and Medford battled through the drizzle at Trum field for game two of the Championship Series. Steve Szathmary tossed a gem for Alibrandis giving up just two hits and 1 run. As Somerville finally got to an arm weary Gildea of Medford posting 7 runs on 9 hits. Kevin White(3-3 2 runs scored an 1 rbi) set the table and Justin Crisafulli cleaned it off with a double and a missle to left field(3 run homer) his 3rd of the playoffs.

Congrats to Ann Marie and Kevin White on the birth of their 1st son Adien Patrick White.

Somerville open the championship series with a bang as Mike Feetham blasted a base clearing double to deep right center to clear the bases in the bottom of the 1st. That would be all Marc "Doc" DesRoches would need from his teammates throwing a 2hit shutout with Bernie Driscoll hurling the 7th.

Somerville leads the series 1-0.

Somerville hung on to beat a game Revere club 2-1 winning the series 3-0. Table setters for Alibrandis Tom McDonough(2-4)1 run scored and Bernie (Skates) Driscoll(2-3) scored the winning run on a pass ball, were on base six times.
Jared Leiderman was masterful again for Somerville throwing 6 inning(81tosses) of 1 hit ball(infield bunt single) with Mike Rigazio pitching a scoreless 7th to record his 1st Yawkey League save.

Hats off to both clubs for a great series!

Somerville and Revere hooked up in game two of the semis. Steve Szathmary took the hill for Alibrandis and Tom Levett for the Rockies. The game winning RBI was produced by Somerville's hard hitting DH Justin Crisafulli with insurance by Bernie Driscoll whom each drove in runs in the bottom of the sixth to salt away the victory and put Revere down 2-0.
Marc DesRoches hit a Blast to the centerfield basketball court to tie the score in the fifth inning. Driscoll reached base safely 4 times and Crisfulli three....each had two hits.
Szathmary's record moves to 2-0 for the playoffs.

What a game at the old ball park tonight. As Somerville and Revere put on a great show battling for seven innings with the winning run scoring on a single by Frank McPherson in the bottom of the seventh.
Jon Morse of Somerville went the distance out dueling Mike McCarthy of the Rockies.

Both teams meet again at Trum 2pm tomorrow.

Two vets battled tonight at St Pete's. Marc DesRoches for Somerville and Dan Pill for Brighton. Both YBL stars tossed a gem with DesRoches coming out on top holding the Brewers to just 3 hits and 1 unearned run.
Alibrandis took advantage of both Brighton miscues producing 3 runs in the 5th to seal the victory.
Kevin White 1-3 with 2rbi's and Mike Feetham 2-3 with 1rbi and 2 scored lead the Somerville team.

It was "Turn Back the Clock" night at Trum Field. As both teams worn uni's from old teams...college,high school or of course "The Bad News Bears...Thank you Mike Powers!
With West Roxbury still jockeying for a playoff position. Somerville got strong pitching from Rookie righthander Jared Liederman(4-1)tossing a 3 hit complete game surrendering only 1 unearned run in the first.
Mike Feetham was 4-4 with 2 runs scored, Marc DesRoches 3-3 with another rbi. Multi hit games Dave Scioli, Sal Mendonca and Derek Bates.

The Play of the game was a "Margellan" like catch in right field by Sal Mendonca of a Blast by Phil Davis of Westie. Someone please find Sal a map..........

Coming off a great post season in 2005, Jon Morse has continued his dominance of YBL opponents posting a 6-1 record while throwing 4 shutouts and lowering his ERA to 1.19.
Offensive was lead by Triple Crown hopeful Marc DesRoches 4-4 with 2RBI's......Frank McPherson had his second 3hit preformance of the week. Multi hit game were Tom McDonough, Dave Scioli,Mike Sadler and Billy Fitzgerald.

Somerville improves to 23-6 looking to clinch #1 seeded on Monday versa a tough West Roxbury team.

With a playoff spot on the line for West Roxbury. Somerville and Westie battled at Billings field Friday night. Steve Szathmary facing his old club out dueled Polasky of Westie for a 3-2 victory.
Rockwell drove in 2 with a double in the 3rd to give Westie the lead.Tom McDonough(2-3 and 2RBI's) had a 2 run single to center in the 5th inning driving in the go ahead run.
McDonough also hit a blast to left center in the 7th to get a double and a half as a sniper from the grassy knoll in left took him down.

Offensive was on for the Alibrandis club lead by Bernie Driscoll 3-4, 2RBI's and 3 runs scored. Devin Davis also had 3 hits with Mike Feetham,Dave Scioli and Marc DesRoches all chipping in with 2.......Feetham,Scioli and DesRoches also produced 8 RBI's.

Mike Powers and Scott Rodgers combined to pitch 7 strong innings battling all the way yeilding just 3 earned runs on 11 hits.
Offense was lead by Derek Bates 4-4 with 4RBI's and a run scored, Frank McPherson 3-4 with 2RBI's and a run scored and Tom McDonough 2-4 with 1RBI and 1 run scored. Kevin White and Mike Feetham reached base safely 3 times each and combined to score 4 runs.

McKay Club did the job with help from Jack Owens 5 RBI and Sean Sullivan complete game 9K - 5 hit effort. Somerville comes to play and win every night. They were in control and lost becasue the Beacons woke up in the 5th down 2-0. Beacons scored 3 in the 5th and 4 in the 6th to garner their 9th victory of the 2006 season.

Owens sent 2 home in the 5th with a solid sinlge and lofted a long triple to plate 3 in the 6th for the victory.

Sullivan was solid in a complete game victory his 3rd of the season against 2 losses.

There is still some life left in Dorchester yet!

What a "GEM" of a game the fans were treated to at Trum field on a Hot and Steamy night in Somerville.
Alibrandis and the Brewers battled to a 1-0 Somerville win.
Jon Morse outdueled Kevin Christina of the Brewers to record his 5th win of the year, yielding just 4 hits while striking out 10. Christina was the hard luck loser suffering his first lost of the year(4-1).
Frank McPherson had probably one of the best at bats ever in the Yawkey League battling Christina for a 12 pitch at bat finally singling to right center to drive in the games lone run.
Defensive Star of the game goes to Centerfielder of the Brewers MIke Muccio who made a spectular diving catch to save atleast 2 runs.

Pete Lankarge pitched a gem in a big win against Somerville. Billy Fitzgerald spoiled Lankarge's no-hitter with 2 outs in the 5th. The Braves pulled out to a lead in the 2nd when Brian Sullivan hit a line drive up the middle to score Siciliano. On the same play, Somerville's Tom McDonough made a perfect throw from center to nail Cianciolo from second base to hold the Braves to only the 1 run. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and no outs in the 6th, Somerville tied it up with a single by DesRoches. Lankarge was able to work out of the inning with no further damage on 2 popups and a groundout to first. The Braves got 2 more in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI single by Farquharson and a SAC Fly by Siciliano. Brooks-Ramsdell allowed an unearned run in the 7th but was able to close it out with a strikeout with the tying run on 3rd.

Jon Morse pitched a strong 6 innings striking out 9 to earn his 3rd win of the year. Mike Rigazio earned his 1st YBL save. The offense was led by Tom McDonough who had 2 hits and scored both runs. Bernie Driscoll continued his hot hitting going 3-3 while driving in both runs.

Lambrecht pitched great for Roslindale going the distance allowing 1ER on only 5 hits while striking out 13 Somerville Batter's.

Steve Szathmary pitched a complete game to earn his second win of the season striking out 10. Mark DesRoches had 2 hits including a 2 run Home Run to lead the offense. Bernie Driscoll and Frank "the tank" McPherson also added 2 hits each for Somerville.

Marc DesRoches spins a gem on his way to going 3-0 on the year. Marc went the distance striking out nine and allowing just one base hit. Kevin White had 2 hits, drove in one and scored twice and DesRoches helped his own cause at bat with 2 hits of his own while driving in three. Mike Sadler and Bernie Driscoll also chipped in with 2 hits a piece for the Alibrandi Club.

Scott Jamieson pitched very well in defeat, while Matt Thayer picked up the lone Al Thomas hit.

A HOT 1 for the Cali Kid, Jarod Leiderman to make his 1st Yawkey League start.
A game Chelsea team played well against the defending champs with Somerville coming out on top 6-3. Leiderman went the whole game, walking 3, striking out 7 and yeilding only 6 hits and 2 earned runs.
Hitting stars...Justin Crisafulli 3-4 with 2 RBI's and Marc DesRoches 2-4 with a HR and 2 RBI's.

Mike McCarthy goes the distance to get the shutout win, giving up just 6 hits and striking out 6.

Kevin Spitz RBI single in the first, scoring Dan DiLeo was all the offense that was needed. But in the 6th inning, Chad Conner added an insurance run with a blast over the left centerfield fence to get his 1st HR on the season. Kyle Philson busted out of his slump as he collected 2 hits on the night.

For Somerville, Szathmary went the distance and took the loss. Crisafulli collected 2 hits to lead the offense.

Morse and Gildae put on quite a show at the old ball park last night......both young guns silence the bats with Somerville coming out on top 1-0 on a clutch 2 out single by Frank(the tank)McPherson.

A dramatic win for the Brookline Dodgers as Matt Nussbaum singles in Joey Patrolia in the bottom of the 12th for their 2nd win of the season. Shaun Farrar pitched 8 stellar innings, while striking out 7, but unfortunately wound up with a no decision. Marc Skipper pitched very strong for the final 4 innings to get the win, and Steve Szathmary amazingly went all 12 for the loss striking out 13.

Jay Shatto led the Dodger hitting going 3-5 with a run and a stolen base. Matt Nussbaum collected 2 hits, scored a run, and had 3 RBI's. 5 other Dodgers also had a hit throughout the contest.

Dave Scioli, Marc DesRoches, and Matt Reynolds each had 2 hits for Somerville.

On a beautiful night at Trum the fans were treated to a very exciting game. Well pitched with solid defense.
A strong pitched game from young right hander Gamma for Eastie as he held the Somerville bats in check until the 4 inning when Somerville posted 4 runs on 5 hits capped by a 3 run homer by Justin Crisafulli. Not to be out done Marc DesRoches hit a 2 run bomb in the following inning.
Somerville had two new Yawkey League players make their first appearence.....Matt Reynolds(Umass) and Jarrod Leiderman(Cali)
