What an end to a fantasic series.
Alibrandis and Al Thomas Club battle thru 5 innings tied 1 to 1. Bernie Driscoll(Mr. Tenth Player) of Somerville tied the score with a clutch two out single to center in the top of the fifth.
The season would come down to the last two innings. Somerville explodes with 7 runs in the top of the sixth with the keys hits coming from Dave Scioli(MVP),Mike Feetham and Frank McPherson all with 2 run hits.
The defensive gem of the series came in the last of the fifth as Sal Mendonca robbed Bucci of Al Thomas with a diving catch in right field to hold the score to 1-1. This catch turn the momentum to Somerville and propelled them to a 6 run sixth inning.
Somerville would like to take this chance to thank it's sponsor,great fans and the Yawkey League for all the support during the 2005 season.

Somerville wins Series 4 games to 3.

Aidan Powers scattered 6 hits over 7 innings for the complete game victory, 3-1, as the A's force a Game 7.

Greg Lovely's sacrifice fly drove in Jim Schindler with the eventual game winner, and Aidan Powers added a sac fly for an insurance run, driving in Peter Moores.

Alibrandi's Jon Morse outduelled Kotas of the Al Thomas Club on this Saturday afternoon. Both righthanders were excellent, giving up 3 hits apiece with the lone run scoring on a double to centerfield by Dave Treska scoring Bernie Driscoll from 1st base.

The series now moves to Healy Field for the final two games.

Classic pitching battle between Marc DesRoches of Somerville and Scott Jamieson of Al Thomas.
Al Thomas jump in front in the 1st with two runs coming on a RBI double by Chris Bucci and single by Doyle. Somerville bats were silent until the bottom of the 4th when they stage a 3 run two out rally with the big blows coming from Marc DesRoches towering blast to dead center field scoring Tom McDonough and Dave Scioli.
Mike Feetham delivered the winning run with an RBI single to right plating DesRoches.

Series now tied 2 to 2!

Somerville down 2-0 in the series....posted a dramatic comeback in the bottom of the 7th inning to win game 3 and avoid going down 3 games to none.
In the seventh, Scott Rodgers reached on an error, Sal Mendonca doubled to left putting runners on second and third. Kevin White stepped in the box. With Alibrandis down to their last strike, Kevin BLASTED a 3-run Homer to left to tie the game.The boys still not finished, Tom McDonough at the plate. He laced a double to deep right center. Al Thomas then intentionally walked Dave Scioli to face Marc DesRoches who came through with a clutch single to right center scoring McDonough from second to win the game.
Al Thomas was lead by Bucci who continued his hot hitting with two more hit's giving him 7 for the series.

What a Game!

Al Thomas wound up on top of a battle, 10-8, in Game 2 of the Finals. Chris Malloy and Peter Moores each had 2-rbi singles in the first inning to set the tone for Al Thomas.

Andy Doyle, Chris Bucci and Aidan Powers had 3 hits each to lead the A's over a powerful Somerville team, led by Dave Scioli's 3 hits and a towering bomb in the 3rd inning.

Pat Dolbeare picked up the win in relief of Aidan Powers with a scoreless inning, and John Kostas tossed the final 2 frames for the A's.

Bernie Driscoll picked up 3 hits for the Alibrandi's Club.

Scott Jamieson scattered 6 hits in picking up his second shutout of the playoffs as the A's take the first game of the finals, 2-0.

Andy Doyle and Brian Powers stroked 2-out singles in the first inning to drive in the only runs of the game. Chris Bucci had 2 hits to lead Al Thomas, while the defense turned 2 more double plays.

Jamieson walked 1 and struck out 6 in outdueling Chad Feetham, who retired 12 of the last 13 batters.

Matt Thayer walked and singled for the A's, while Dave Sciolo had 2 hits for Somerville.

Finishing a great series with the Mariners of Brighton. Somerville looked upon some lady luck to pull out a great win in front of there home crownd...Tks Fans.......Brighton jumped out to a lead of 4-0 through 5inning. Dave Scioli woke up Somerville with a blast in the 6th inning to get the home nine on the board. Strong pitching by Brighton's Tony Iafolli held somerville at bay until the 7th. Key blows in that inning were provided by M.Feetham and Bernie Driscoll to tie the game. Somerville won the game on a FC, RBI by rookie Devin Davis in the 8th scoring F. McPherson from 3rd.
Jon Morse continued his strong pitching with 2 inning of clutch shutout relief.

Somerville won probably the best game of the year on a suicide squeeze by Kevin White in the top of the seventh inning scoring Tom McDonough.
Great Pitching Battle.....Steve Szathmary of Somerville and Sawicki of the Mariners battled to the end with Somerville getting relief help fro Marc DesRoches in the 7th.

Jon Morse was the story of this game......going 7 innings and providing Somerville with the shot in the arm the team needed.
Offense was all done in the first inning lead by a 3- run blast by Marc DesRoches.....Scott Rodgers also had a two run double in the inning.

The balls were flying at Trum Field, where the Brighton Mariners squeeked out a 7-6 win over Somerville. The Mariners opened with 3 in the first, all on a 3-run homerun by Brendan Klaes. Klaes later added a double and another RBI to his totals for the day.

Iafolla's knuckler and the Mariners D kept the Somerville off the board for a while, but they charged back in the 7th. Sparked by a 2-run homer by Mark DesRoches, Somerville put up 4 in the bottom of the 7th, and had the game-tying run on second base. But the Mariners were able to notch the final out before that happened to close out the win.

The Mariners take a 1-0 lead in the series, with Game 2 to be played at Trum tomorrow.

Somerville bounces back after a tough 10-1 loss to regain lead in series 2 games to 1 with a hard fought 8-0 victory over the Blacksox. Mark Desroches pithced great going 5 strong innings allowing no runs on 2 hits . Mike Powers closed out the game with 2 scoreless innings in relief. Dave Scioli led the hitting with 2 hits including a double and rbi while Tom McDonough also added 2 doubles.

Somerville with something to prove. Showed why they own the last 6 championships. Posting a 10 spot in the fourth inning, highlighted by a blast off the bat of Dave Scioli(GS) to cap the 10 run outburst.
Steve Szathmary pitched the first 5 inning allowing 1 unearned run. Paul Gately pitched the 6th and Bernie Driscoll(Mr.Tenth Player) tossed the 7th.
Both teams did show some playoff nerves with 7 errors being committed.

Chad Feetham provided strong pitching going 7 innings allowing just 1 run on 6 hits while striking out 7. Marc DesRoches and Tom McDonough each had 2rbi's....McDonough also hit a HR in the sixth inning.

Gauvin vs Szathmary, battle of two top pitchers in the league. Gauvin pitched 7 innings, SO 12, gave up 1ER, allowing 3 hits. Szathmary pitched 7 innings, SO 9, gave up 1ER, allowing 3 hits. Unbelievable how close the lines are.... Luckily for us Gauvin came out on top to pick up the win.

Sean Magee had 2 of the 3 Rockie hits and plated the game winning RBI in the 2nd inning on a single to score Crossman. Dave Mitrou had the only other hit.

For Somerville, their lone run came in the 6th: a leadoff double by Scioli, DesRoches moves him to 3B on a FC, and Feetham scores him on another FC.

This was a great game of top pitchers....

A game to remember! Two of the top Yawkey league teams hooked up in a classic battle.
Somerville came out on top behind a great pitching performance by Stud righthander Marc DesRoches. DesRoches and E.McDonough throw complete games with McDonough suffering his first lost of the season. "Great Job Guys"
Offense was lead by Dave Scioli and Scott Rodgers each with 2 hits and 1 RBI....Kevin White scored two runs and had a big two out triple to rightcenter then scored on Tom Mcdonough clutch single to leftcenter.
McKeown had two extra base hits for Medford.

ComCast missed a great one!

Another strong pitching performance by the Somerville staff. Scott Rodgers and Jon Morse combined for a 4 hit shutout. Rodgers got his 3rd win of the year.
Offense was lead by Tom McDonough going 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's and reaching base safely 4 times. Dave Scioli 3-4 a HR and 1 RBI. Rookie Devin Davis had 2 hits scoring 1 and driving in 1. Scott Rogers also contribute to his own cause with 2 hits and a run driven in.

Multiple hit game were Tom McDonough, Mike Feetham and Scott Rodgers with 2 hits apiece.......Rbi's were Kevin White(2), McDonough, Feetham and Rodgers.

Best game of the year for the defending champs.

Rockwell pitched well for the Devils.

Somerville capitalize on miscues from the Bombers to win a hard fought battle in the first of two for the day.
Somerville recieved a game effort from Steve Szathmary in recording his 7th victory against no losses. Relief help was provided by Bernie Driscoll getting his 1st save of the year.
Offense was set by the table setters Kevin White and Tom McDonough scoring 3 runs and reaching base safely 6 out of 8 times. Scott Rodgers had to hits and reached safely 3 times.
Rbi's came by way of Dave Scioli, Mike Feetham and Frank McPherson.

Delea pitched a strong game in a losing effort for the Bombers.

Somerville got 5.1 innings of strong pitching from Chad Feetham with relief coming by the way of Bernie Driscoll recording his second save of the day.
J. Forbes pitched outstanding for the bombers in a losing effort.

Offense was lead by Sal Mendonca(2-3 1rbi), Frank the Tank McPherson(1-2 double 1rbi) and T. McDonough (2-4 sb)

Somerville got back on track against a game Chelsea team. The offense was lead by Kevin White going 4-5 with 8rbi's and hitting for the cycle. Sal Mendonca chipped in with a 4-4 night scoring 4 runs and driving in one.
Shawn Nadeau got his 4th win of the year throwing 5 innings of 1 hit ball. Chad Feetham and Mike Powers pitch the 6th and 7th inning.

It was McCarthy vs DeRoches. The 2 battled out as both went the distance to highlight a great game. In the end it came down to defense.

In the 2nd, Dan Jalbert led off the inning with a double. Kevin Spitz moved him to third, and Gary Moran got him home on a fly ball to left field that was misplayed, to score what eventually was the game winning run.

In the 4th, Jalbert led off with a single, and moved to second on a pass ball. Kevin Spitz moves him to third. Neal Roper gets the sacrifice fly to score the second run of the game.

Dan Jalbert was 2-3, 2R, 2B to lead all offense. Mike McCarthy struck out 6, walked 2, and allowed no runs to get the win.

DeRockes took the loss giving up just 1 ER over 7 innings, striking out 7, walking 0.

Kevin White, David Scioli and David treska led the offense with 2 hits each and Marc Desroches added a huge bases clearing triple to put the game away in the seventh. John morse pitched a great game going 6 strong innings allowing 3 hits (all singles) and just 2 earned runs. Chad feetham closed out the game in the seventh. Somerville improves to 12-4 at the July 4th break.

Somerville took on a game Brighton team and won a mistake filled game 9-2.....Somerville got a strong outing again from Steve Szathmary. Scattering 3 hits over seven innings, no earned runs allowed, posting his fifth win against no defeats.
Offense was provided again by the table setters(Kevin White and Tom McDonough) reaching base safely 6 out 9 times scoring 4 runs. Bernie Driscoll drove in two runs with a clutch based load single in the seveth inning to break the game open.

Greg Lovely doubled in Bubba Muse in the top of the 7th to put the A's up 3-2 for good in a tight battle over the defending champion Somerville Alibrandi's.

Aidan Powers threw 5.1 hitless innings before settling for a gutsy complete game 3-hitter against the best hitting team in the league.

Lovely cracked 2 doubles for 2 rbi, while Brian Powers added a triple and single to pace the Al Thomas Club. Chris Malloy chipped in with a double, while Chris Bucci added a base hit, 2 diving catches in center and an assist in throwing a runner out at third base. Bubba Muse ended the game with a diving catch of a foul ball at first base.

John Morse pitched a solid game for Somerville, while Dave Scioli and Marc DesRoches drove in the runs.
