What an end to a fantasic series.
Alibrandis and Al Thomas Club battle thru 5 innings tied 1 to 1. Bernie Driscoll(Mr. Tenth Player) of Somerville tied the score with a clutch two out single to center in the top of the fifth.
The season would come down to the last two innings. Somerville explodes with 7 runs in the top of the sixth with the keys hits coming from Dave Scioli(MVP),Mike Feetham and Frank McPherson all with 2 run hits.
The defensive gem of the series came in the last of the fifth as Sal Mendonca robbed Bucci of Al Thomas with a diving catch in right field to hold the score to 1-1. This catch turn the momentum to Somerville and propelled them to a 6 run sixth inning.
Somerville would like to take this chance to thank it's sponsor,great fans and the Yawkey League for all the support during the 2005 season.

Greg Lovely's sacrifice fly drove in Jim Schindler with the eventual game winner, and Aidan Powers added a sac fly for an insurance run, driving in Peter Moores.

Alibrandi's Jon Morse outduelled Kotas of the Al Thomas Club on this Saturday afternoon. Both righthanders were excellent, giving up 3 hits apiece with the lone run scoring on a double to centerfield by Dave Treska scoring Bernie Driscoll from 1st base.

The series now moves to Healy Field for the final two games.

Classic pitching battle between Marc DesRoches of Somerville and Scott Jamieson of Al Thomas.
Al Thomas jump in front in the 1st with two runs coming on a RBI double by Chris Bucci and single by Doyle. Somerville bats were silent until the bottom of the 4th when they stage a 3 run two out rally with the big blows coming from Marc DesRoches towering blast to dead center field scoring Tom McDonough and Dave Scioli.
Mike Feetham delivered the winning run with an RBI single to right plating DesRoches.

Series now tied 2 to 2!

Somerville down 2-0 in the series....posted a dramatic comeback in the bottom of the 7th inning to win game 3 and avoid going down 3 games to none.
In the seventh, Scott Rodgers reached on an error, Sal Mendonca doubled to left putting runners on second and third. Kevin White stepped in the box. With Alibrandis down to their last strike, Kevin BLASTED a 3-run Homer to left to tie the game.The boys still not finished, Tom McDonough at the plate. He laced a double to deep right center. Al Thomas then intentionally walked Dave Scioli to face Marc DesRoches who came through with a clutch single to right center scoring McDonough from second to win the game.
Al Thomas was lead by Bucci who continued his hot hitting with two more hit's giving him 7 for the series.

Al Thomas wound up on top of a battle, 10-8, in Game 2 of the Finals. Chris Malloy and Peter Moores each had 2-rbi singles in the first inning to set the tone for Al Thomas.

Andy Doyle, Chris Bucci and Aidan Powers had 3 hits each to lead the A's over a powerful Somerville team, led by Dave Scioli's 3 hits and a towering bomb in the 3rd inning.

Pat Dolbeare picked up the win in relief of Aidan Powers with a scoreless inning, and John Kostas tossed the final 2 frames for the A's.

Bernie Driscoll picked up 3 hits for the Alibrandi's Club.

Scott Jamieson scattered 6 hits in picking up his second shutout of the playoffs as the A's take the first game of the finals, 2-0.

Andy Doyle and Brian Powers stroked 2-out singles in the first inning to drive in the only runs of the game. Chris Bucci had 2 hits to lead Al Thomas, while the defense turned 2 more double plays.

Jamieson walked 1 and struck out 6 in outdueling Chad Feetham, who retired 12 of the last 13 batters.

Matt Thayer walked and singled for the A's, while Dave Sciolo had 2 hits for Somerville.

Leo Corcoran took a no hitter into the 6th inning and settled for 6 innings of 1-hit shutout ball to lead the A's in the clinching game and send them to the finals for the first time since 1996.

John Kostas pitched the final frame of the 10-0 game as 5 players collected 2 hits apiece in the balanced attack.

Chris Malloy, Brian Powers and Jim Schindler drove in 2 runs apiece for the Al Thomas Club, which played solid defense again to back its pitcher.

Congratulations to a strong, young Medford team in its second year in the Yawkey League, with many more victories to come.

Matt Thayer's 2-out grounder skipped into left field to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the 8th inning as the A's won a seesaw game, 4-3.

Medford took a 1-0 lead on a passed ball in the 4th. Sean Gildea held the A's hitless until the 6th inning, when Chris Bucci's infield hit started a 2-run rally.

Medford took the lead in the top of the 7th on a Jay Sablone double and an error, but Al Thomas tied it in the bottom of the inning as Greg Lovely beat out an infield grounder with 2 outs and the bases loaded.

John Kostas pitched a scoreless 8th inning for the A's. Andy Doyle led off the bottom of the 8th with a booming triple to right center, and after 2 intentional walks and 2 outs, Thayer's ball plated Brian Powers with the winning run.

Aidan Powers threw the first 7 innings for the A's, yielding 1 earned run, striking out 7.

Doyle led the offense with a double and triple, while Sablone's 2 doubles and Buddy Hanle

Brian Powers singled in Chris Bucci from 3rd in the bottom of the 6th for the only run of the game in this classic pitching duel between rookie Scott Jamieson and Eamon McDonough.

In a game that lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes, Jamieson scattered 4 hits in outdueling McDonough, as the A's take a 1-0 lead in the semifinal series.

Peter Moores threw out the potential go-ahead run in the top of the 6th on a base hit to left in a game that featured many defensive gems.

In the bottom of the 6th, Bucci led off with a single, moved to 2nd on a Greg Lovely base hit, to third on an Andy Doyle fielder's choice, and scored on Powers' 2-out base hit.

Chris Bucci singled in Matt Thayer in the first inning, and the Al Thomas Club tacked on 5 runs on 7 hits in the 2nd inning.

Bucci led the offense with a single, double and 2 rbi, while 6 players collected a hit each as the A's take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Bill Clang settled down and retired the last 10 batters for West Roxbury, while Souto added 2 hits and Phil Davies blasted a triple to right field.

Having been down 2 games to none last year in the 1st round of the playoffs, and coming back to win, the A's know that this series is far from over against a tough WR team.

Chris Malloy crushed a 2-run homer in the 1st inning to give rookie Scott Jamieson a lead he would not relinquish as the A's beat West Roxbury 8-3.

Andy Doyle's 2-out 2-rbi single in the 4th gave the Al Thomas Club a couple of insurance runs, and Greg Lovely slammed a 3-run homer in the 6th to put the game away.

Lovely added a double and an rbi single, while Malloy also cracked a double. Doyle, Mark Daly and Chris Bucci chipped in with 2 hits apiece.

Jamieson scattered 5 hits in a complete game, allowing 2 earned runs with 6 k's.

Shawn Raposo and Mike Ryan each had 2 hits to lead the Devils.

Chris Santosuosso continued his hot hitting today for Hyde Park, going 2-3 with 3 RBI in leading the Bluefish to a 5-3 win on Sunday Afternoon at Cunningham Park. Santosuosso's RBI single in the top of the 2nd gave the Bluefish a 1-0 lead. The game stayed at 1-0 till the 4th, when after going down 0-2 in the count, Mike Norsen battled back and drilled a 2 run double down the LF line to make it 3-0. Santosuosso followed with a sac fly scoring Norsen, and in the top of the 5th, with bases loaded, added an infield single to make it 5-0. Chris Bucci's RBI double in the bottom of the 6th ended the Bluefish shutout bid. Al Thomas would add 2 in the 7th to make the final 5-3. Kit Kadlec (3-0), the scheduled starter for HP, arrived late, so Nate Renteria pitched a scoreless first, before Kadlec came in and threw 6 innings, giving up 7 h, 3 r, 2 er, 2 w, 1 k. Chris Bucci and Brian Powers each had 2 hits for Al Thomas.

Matt Thayer scored the game's only run on a wild pitch in the 5th inning. Brian Powers and Jim Schindler each collected two hits to lead the Al Thomas Club.

Jamieson held the Mariners hitless until Tony Iafolla singled to lead off the 5th inning. He walked none and struck out six.

Dalton and Lieber pitched very well in defeat.
