 Summary | Box Score
Final 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E
Scituate Tides 0 0 0 0 2 0 0 0 0 2 5 1
Billerica Storm 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 1 5 0

Tides win. Great series. Dave Iava (post season: 16 IP, 0 runs allowed!!) and Rob Monti seal the Championship with great performances on the hill. Tony Anderlionis goes 3-5 and Thom Holdgate 1-2 with 3 BB's. Tom Manning of the Storm, despite his en route car accident/air bag failure, pitches a gem himself. Bo Finnegan goes 2-4 at the plate.

Finally, Big ups to Shep who may have just played in his last baseball game. Easily one of the premier players in our league. Lets hope Manning talks him into another knee and shoulder aching season. Result aside, it's how we hoped this thing would end up my good friend.

Shout out to Richie Winant who was missed this postseason... hope to see you next year.

JT - you missed a doozy!

Scituate Tides 17, Billerica Storm 9

 Summary | Box Score
Final 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E
Billerica Storm 1 0 0 0 2 5 1 0 0 9 10 4
Scituate Tides 0 2 3 5 0 1 0 6 x 17 19 5

So much for the eagerly anticipated pitcher's duel! Tides jump out to an early 10-1 lead only to have the Storm battle back to make it 10-8 in the 6th. Shoddy defense let down Krukonis, particularly in the 6th, but Mark battled to pick up the win, with Dave Iava cleaning up the 9th.

Hitting was the story for the Tides as Chris Igo (4-5, 2 2B, BB, 3RBI, 3R), Miguel Miranda (4-6, 2B, 4RBI, 3R), Brendan Stone (2-4, RBI, BB, HBP, 2R), Russ Goodman (3-4, 2RBI, 4R, 2BB), and Danny O'Brien (2-5) lead the charge.

Steve Milo (2-3, 2BB, 2R), Jerry Breen (2-5, 2R) and Robcat (2/4) paced Billerica.

Game 3 for all the marbles to be played either Friday night or Sunday.

Billerica Storm 0 0 4 0 0 0 0 0 0 4 2 3

Fantastic start to Game 1 of the championship! Storm edge the Tide, 4-3. John Kroeger goes the distance, giving up only 6 hits (yet, still driving manager, Shep, crazy by allowing guys on in almost every inning).

Rob Monti fires a 2-hitter, yet comes up short due to a few "ill-timed" HBP's, walks, & errors.

For the most part, fantastic defense on both sides!

Game 2 is sure to be another battle! Come on out to see the rivals beat up on (& make fun of each other while doing it) each other!

Sorry it's taken so long for the updates...

After losing the "mini-game 2" in the morning, the Storm came out strong a beat the Brewers 9-3.

This puts them back into the semi-for the 4th year in a row.

Congrats to the Brewers! One "kick-ass squad" that played extremely well in their first year in the National division!

Storm takes game 1, 8-1. Tom Manning kept things going right into the playoffs by going the distance & surrenduring only 5 hits. He also knocked in one of the runs in the 6-run 6th.

Sheppela added 2 hits (one, a sun-drenched single) & 2 runs, Kroeger slammed a 2-run double as well. Milo also chipped in with a 2-run single.

Mullen pitched well for the Brewers, but ran into some trouble in the 6th. Belli & Ignacio both had 2 hits for the Brewers.

Both teams (& umps) participated in a moment of silence before the game. 9-11...NEVER FORGET!!!

Billerica Storm 8, N. Andover Thunder 3

 Summary | Box Score
Final 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 R H E
Billerica Storm 0 0 0 7 0 0 1 8 8 5
N. Andover Thunder 1 0 0 0 1 1 0 3 6 4

Definitely not a pretty game! Half of Breed's lights were out. There were 9 errors. The umpiring crew was terrible.

The Storm took advantage in the 4th, by scoring 7. Otherwise, it was a weird evening.

One of the Thunder players was tossed just for saying "bad call blue!" While leaving, he was threatened to have his ass kicked by the other umpire. BTW, this was the same umpire that complained to one of the Storm pitchers that he couldn't see the strike zone. In fact, he also asked him to "slow his pitches down..."

What is this world coming to???

The Storm beats the Thunder (just before the rains came) 4-2. John Kroeger pitched a gem, going the distance & surrendering only 5 hits.

Despite all the offense by the Storm, not much came across the plate. Timely defense kept this game very close.

Good game all around...

Lexington Astros 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 3 2
Billerica Storm 5 1 3 0 3 0 x 12 12 0

FRED BELLOWS dominates Tom Manning going 2-2 at the plate! But, it was not enough as the Storm goes on to beat Lexington 12-0. This game clinches the #1 seed for the first time in the "Tigers/Indian/Storms long history!

Manning was asked after the game about his pitching performance. "He flat out owns me. I had no idea how to go after Freddie. What can I say...he's my daddy. I pulled myself out so not to face him again. It was the smartest thing I did all night." Manning gave up 3 hits in recording his 9th win. Routh came on & tossed 3 hitless (not counting the 3HBP's) innings.

Offensively, Sheppela (2-4, 2 doubles), Kroeger (2-3, double & 3 rbi's), Robcat (1-3, double, 2 runs & 2 rbi's) & Bo Finnegan (triple) chipped in.

Tough game all the way around, on a very hot day! Sketchy umping (only one ump) & also made it very interesting as well.

Tom Manning went the distance for the Storm to get the win. He also helped his own cause by adding 2 rbi's to the mix. Bo Finnegan tossed in a couple of hits as well (also 2rbi's).

Kevin Locke & Larry Cibotti both pitched well for the White Sox, surrendering only 5 hits all day.

Billerica Storm 7, Middlesex Brewers 6

 Summary | Box Score
Final 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 R H E
Middlesex Brewers 1 0 0 5 0 0 0 0 6 7 4
Billerica Storm 0 0 3 0 0 0 3 1 7 8 1

Storm takes the second game, just before the rains came & washed the entire field away.

Manning struggled, but battled to get the win. He did snap his string of games pitched with an HBP. An injured Todd Boulay stepped to the plate with the game tied in the 8th (thunder crashing in the background). He & his Wonderboy came through with a game winning rbi single.

Had a tenth on the bench, so we were able to keep the Brewers stats. Creedon had 2 hits. Ponte had a double in the 5 run 5th.

Overall, another great game!
