Sean Gildea, 7-2 during the regular season, picked up where he left off. Sean allowed 4 hits, walked 4 and struck out 10 throwing the complete game shutout.
Daryl Pina pitched just as well for Revere keeping his team in the game until the end.
In the sixth inning after Ryan Sweeney was hit by a pitch and Johnny Johanson walked, Johnny Cunningham tripled, knocking in the first 2 runs of the game on the Team's first hit. Buddy Hanley followed with a double, scoring Cunningham.
The Maddogs only have 3 hits in the first 2 games of the series but are up 2 games to none because of pitching and defense. |

After throwing 5 shutouts during the regular season Eamonn McDonough began the playoffs with his 6th shutout of the year. The Maddogs needed a shutout because Bryan Gauvin, after giving up an infield hit to the leadoff hitter, Johnny Cunningham, threw a no-hitter the rest of the way.
Joe Sheehan got hit by a pitch to lead off the fifth inning. He stole second base and then with 2 outs he stole third and scored on the overthrow into left field.
Gauvin struck out 10 and walked none. McDonough struck out 7 and walked 3, each pitcher hit a batter. |

AlThomas Athletics 8, Revere Rockies 3
Rookie Southpaw Leo Corcoran tossed a complete game 5-hitter as the A's kept their first-place hopes alive with an 8-3 win over the Rockies.
Peter Moores gave the Al Thomas Club a lead it would not relinquish in the first with a rbi single, while Mike Niland followed with a 3-run homer. Moores also added a sacrifice fly to score newcomer Jeff Hines, who had singled and moved to third base, in the 3rd inning.
Sean Wilshere added a 2-run single in the 5th, while Chris Malloy blasted his league-leading 7th home run of the season in the 4th.
Kyle Philson and Mike Close each laced a triple for the Revere squad. |

The Braves battled back in the 7th inning to scare the Rockies a bit, but the strong pitching performance by Bill Beauchesne closed the door before too much damage was done. In the end, the Rockies came out with a much needed win to stay in the playoff hunt.
Dan Jalbert and Brian Cooper each collected 3 hits to lead the offense. Bill Beauchesne improves to 2-1. |

Revere Rockies 10, Cambridge Spinners 3
In a continuance from a game back in June, when the lights never came on, the Rockies rebounded from a horrible 1st inning to eventaully take the lead. With 1 out in the second ining, and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Daryl Pina came on strong to strike out the next 2 batters to jump start the team and get our heads back in the game. Pina ended up getting the win as he allowed just 1R over the next 4.2 innings to get the win. Mike Close pitched his first inning of relief to close out the game.
Offensively, Daryl Pina helped himself out by going 2-3, 3RBI, 1R. Leland Boutilier also had 2 Hits, 1 of them a 1RBI triple. |

Savin Hill Hornets 4, Revere Rockies 3
Young rookie pitcher Liam Powers of Weymouth got a win in his first start for Savin Hill on a cool drizzly night as most YBL fans were glued to thier TV's watching the exciting DNC extravaganza.
Powers gave up only 4 hits while strucking out 5 Rockies in his 6 innings of work. His buddy LF Chris McDonough closed out the final frame garnering his second save in as many nights.
Timely hiting by Hornet LF Jared Marshman, 3B Tony King and C Timmy White helped pull out this close contest as all three contributed clutch RBI hits.
Revere's leadoff hitter CF Mitrou's two BB's paid off big time as he was able to scamper around the bases and scored off both of them. |

Daryl Pina pitches a complete game to get the victory, allowing just 1 ER on 5 hits. Everyone on the Rockies had a hit, with Leland Boutilier being the only multihit performance. But the play of the game was a shot to left field that Boutilier ran down, made a diving catch, and came up throwing to double up the runner at 1B to end the inning. Kyle Philson's 3 run 3B in the 6th inning was the start of the Rockies getting 6 runs in the last two innings to get another big win over rival South Boston.

Greg Crossman scored 3 times to help Mike McCarthy and the Rockies pull out a much needed victory. Dan Jalbert collected 2 RBIs on 3 hits, while Kevin Spitz had 2 hits of his own. McCarthy pitched 7 strong innings, only allowing 3R (1ER). A 3 run 5th inning broke open the game, but a 4 run 6th inning sealed the win.
For East Boston, Bucci was 2-3 with a 2B. |

Mark Daly walked with the bases loaded in the top of the 7th to break a tie game and drive in the eventual winning run, followed by a Rob Celata rbi fielder's choice and a Matt Thayer rbi single to give the A's a hard-fought win over the Rockies, 6-3.
Daly, Thayer, Peter Moores, and Brian Powers had 2 hits apiece to back the solid pitching of rookie Leo Corcoran, who went the distance in recording his 5th win of the season (5-0). Corcoran fanned 8 while yielding 2 earned runs.
Pina pitched a strong game for Revere, while Mitrou and Kyle Philson each banged out 2 hits. |

Mike McCarthy started on the hill for the Rockies, going 5 innings of no hit baseball. But duty called as Mike had to leave the game. The Rockies were up 3-0 when McCarthy left the game. In the 6th inning, the Dodgers rallied to pull ahead 4-3, and scored once more to hold a 5-3 lead heading into the bottom of the 7th inning. With the bases loaded, Dan Jalbert hit a 2 run 2B to bring the game back to even and heading into extra innings. The Dodgers scored 1 run in the top of the inning but couldn't hold on. Kevin Spitz delivered the game winning 2-Run hit for the Rockies win.

The East Boston Blue Sox battled back from a 4-0 deficit in the bottom of the 7th inning to stun the Revere Rockies 5-4. This is the second time this week the Sox rallied to win in their final at bat. Revere starting pitcher Pina cruised through the first 6 innings shutting the Sox out on 2 hits. But the Sox mounted the rally on a lead off walk from Steve Walsh, followed by a single by Donnie King, an RBI single from Mike Norsen, a walk from Paul Todesco, RBI single from Paul DeLeo, RBI FC from Chris Bucci, RBI walk from Jack Halas and a walk off RBI walk from Mike Navarro.
John Forbes went the distance for the Sox for his second win on the season (2-3) scatterring 9 hits allowing 4 runs. |

The offense was highlighted with timely back-to-back homers by Kevin Spitz (2) and Dan Jalbert (1) in the fifth which gave the Rockies back the lead. Three insurance runs were added in the sixth on back to back bases loaded singles by Moran and Cooper. Mike McCarthy closed things out in style, striking out the side to end the game in the seventh. |

No other West Roxbury player reached base until a 7th inning walk. Gauvin retired 16 straight batters in his outing. Sean Kennedy started the game but was removed after just 1 inning of work. |

In what started as a HR derby at the Garfield School, ended up being just a very nice display of timely hitting. In the 1st inning, Savin Hill jumped out to a 3 run lead on a 1 run HR by Murphy, and a 2 run HR by Errico. They were the only HR's they would see on the day, but they plugged away for 3 more runs to take what appeared to be a commanding 6-2 lead going into the 6th inning. But the Rockies fought back to score 3 runs in the 6th, highlighted by a 2-Run HR by Kyle Philson. In the bottom of the 7th, after loading the bases with no outs, a single by Jalbert and a SCAF by Philson ended the game and gave the Rockies the come from behind win....
Brian Cooper got the win pitching all 7 innings. Errico took the loss. |

Ken Kilduff came in to pitch the 7th and struck out the side. Ricky Corson led the offense going 3-5, 2R, 2RBI. Dave Mitrou also had 2 hits for the Rockies. All Rockie batters got at least one hit.
For Savin Hill, they scored their only run in the 3rd inning. Their run and hit came from Flaherty (2B, 1R). J. White pitched 6 innings and getting the loss, Urzo and Malone pitched the 7th. |

Daryl Pina pitched a complete game, giving up just 1R. Through 4 innings, Pina had a perfect game, but it fell apart in the 5th when Kurzon singled to lead off the inning. Bart Lawyer's 2RBI single in the 2nd was the game breaker as he collected 2 hits on the day, scoring 1 run.
The Black Sox loaded the bases in the 7th but came away with just 1 run. |

Ken Kilduff pitched a gem as he collected his first win of the season. In 6.1 innings of work Kilduff managed to give up 2 unearned runs while striking out 7 and allowing just 4 hits. The 2 runs that scored came in the 3rd inning after an error gave the Black Sox just enough outs to tie the game at 2. But in the 6th, the Rockies plated 2 more runs on 3 hits (2B, 1B, 3B) to regain the lead and get the "W". Mike Close had a multi hit peformance going 2-3 with 2 doubles. Neal Roper's triple in the 6th added the much needed insurance run.
For the Black Sox, Matt Borto (0-1) took the heart breaking loss as he pitched 6 innings, striking out 7, as he battled Kilduff all game. Gabe Soto (2-4, 1B, 2B)had 2 hits for the Sox to lead their offense. |

Mike Close (2-4, 2B, 3B, 2RBI, 1R) and Kyle Philson (2-3, 1B, 2B, SAC, 2RBI) powered the offense as the Rockies pulled out the win, behind a great pitching performance by Daryl Pina (5IP, 5R, 0ER). Unfortunately errors (on both sides) didn't help the starter and dampened his chance to claim his 1st victory. Kyle Philson came in to pitch in the 7th to get the save. But it was Sean Kennedy's perfect 6th inning of work that recorded the win.
The Rockies scored 2 in the 2nd inning and 3 in the 4th inning to take a 5-0 lead. The defense collapsed in the 5th (3 errors) as the Mariners fought back by scoring 4 runs and bringing the game back to even ground. Errors in the field by the Mariners helped the Rockies plate the winning run in the bottom of the 6th.

A tremendous pitching performance by the Rockies staff was the difference in this game. Bryan Gauvin threw 4 innings, striking out 11 batters to get his 1st victory. Mike McCarthy rebounded from his last outing to collect his 1st save by pitching 3 scoreless innings, striking out 4, and allowing just 1 hit. Offensively, Dave Mitrou was 3-4,1RBI,1SB and Jim Wieties collected a pair of hits in the evening going 2-4, 1SB.
South Boston's Joe Berese scored their only run of the game with aggressive baserunning, stealing 2B and scoring as he forced an errant throw as he tried to steal 3rd as well. |

Brian Cooper collected his first win of the season as he pitched a complete game, giving up just 2R on 7 hits, and striking out 6.
The Rockies scored 5 runs in the first, scoring on a bases loaded walk to Dan Jalbert (1-2, 1R), a 2 run double by Neal Roper (1-3, 1R, 2RBI), and a 2 run error on Bart Lawyer's (0-2) infield chopper. In the 3rd, Kevin Spitz (2-3, HR, 2RBI) hit a HR over the center field wall to add to the lead.
For the Broncos, Rob Lepardo (3-4, 2 1B, 2B, 1RBI) had a great day at the plate. Gregg Rockwell pitched 7 innings, striking out 7, but took the loss. |

Somerville Alibrandis Baseball Club opened its 2004 season defeating the Revere Rockies 11-1. The team picked up where it left off last year putting in a solid effort in all phases of the game to help earn their first victory of the season.
Pitching was the story as Derek Bates, the two-time defending YBL Cy Young, got the start in the opener and dominated the Rockies, allowing only one base runner in the first 3 innings via a hit by pitch and went three and one-third before allowing a base hit to the Rockies Kevin Spitz in the 4th. In his five innings of work Bates, allowed one run, 2 hits and struck out 10. Scott Rodgers pitched a one, two, three 6th inning and Marc DesRoches stuck out the side to close out the 7th.
Alibrandis offense banged out 17 hits as every starter in the game had at least 1 hit. The 11 run output was highlighted by the DesRoches brothers, Marc DesRoches( 3-4, 2-2B, 3-RBI ) and Ted DesRoches( 2-3, R |
