Dodgers repeat as MABL Champions.

For the second straight year and their fourth time as a franchise, the T's Pub Dodgers were crowned MABL Champions, as they defeated the Yankees in deciding Game 5, winning the series 3 games to 2. Led by the arm of Dan Petro, the Dodgers won the game 4-1. Petro finished the season 11-0 overall, including two wins over the Yankees in the Finals.

Down 4-0 going into the bottom of the 7th inning, the Yankees threatened a comeback. The Yankees scored a run. Then, with 2 outs, and 2 on, and Mike Moloney as the tying run up at bat, Moloney hit a deep blast to right field that on a windy day might have cleared the Chelsea HS fence to tie the game. Instead, it was hauled in at the warning track for the final out as the Dodgers clinched victory.

This game featured playoff baseball at its best.

THE PITCHING...
On 3 days rest, Bryan Gauvin pitch a gem allowing 3 hits and no ER runs over 8 inn. He was matched equally by Paul McGinnis who kept the Yanks at bay but took the hard luck L.

HOW THE GAME WAS WON…
With the score tied, Greg Crossman led off the 8th with a BB. With 1 out, AJ Bucciarelli came up huge with a double to bring home a run. Bucc then scored on a Todd Steffanides double.

THE DEFENSE...
At 3rd, the Dodgers Jason Hanson went to the hole to prevent a single in the 4th. SS Josue Feliciano saved several runs in the 3rd by snagging an errant throw for an out during a Yanks rally. Jose Alicea made a full out diving catch in the 8th to end the Yanks rally.

But the game saving catch goes to 2B Bucciarelli who made a basket catch in RF w 1 out and the bases loaded in the 4th. He then doubled off the runner at 2nd killing a Dodgers rally.

Facing elimination, the Yankees bats came alive to force a game 4 Tuesday night. Bryan Gauvin earned the complete game victory striking out 10 while allowing 3 ER on 7 hits.

The Dodgers struck the 1st blow with a SAC fly by Mark Dubois in the 2nd to take a 1-0 lead. But the Yanks answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the frame highlighted by Frank Kowalski (1-3, RBI) and Brandon Long (2-2, 2 RBI) RBI singles.

The Yanks improved the lead to 5-1 in the 4th when Long delivered Greg Crossman (2-3, triple) who tripled to lead off the inning. Long then scored after a Todd Steffanides single.

After the Dodgers scored a single run in 5th, the Yanks added insurance with 3 runs in the bottom of the inning.

In addition to Long and Crossman, Ned Coffee had a multihit game going 3-4, with a double and an RBI.

For the Dodgers, Isai Toledano remained hot collecting 3 of their 7 hits. Garrett Fisher picked up the loss on the hill.

Paul McInnis continued his post-season run of the last two years as he got the complete game win. He scattered five hits and gave up one earned run against a very potent Yankee line-up. McInnis also notched seven strikeouts.

In the bottom of the first, the Dodgers scored four runs, highlighted by a Sandy Gonzalez 3-run home run. However, Quinn Ryan and Tim Troville quieted the Dodger bats the rest of the way.

The Yankees chipped away all night, but were unable to push across the tying run against the gritty McInnis.

Paul gets the win. Sandy comes up big at the plate.

Bryan Gauvin pitched a 3-hit complete game shutout to send the Yanks to their 4th MABL Championship Series in the last 5 years. Gauvin struck out 9 while walking just 2. For the Fish, Kit Kadlec pitched well on 4 days rest but picked up the loss.

The Yanks scored all their runs in the 3rd. Frank Kowalski (2-2) led off with a single and stole second. Todd Steffanide’s (1-3, RBI) double and Ned Coffee’s (1-3, RBI) single each brought in a run. A 3rd run scored on a Bluefish error.

AJ Bucciarelli (Yanks) and Al Becker (Bluefish) had multihit games.

The Bluefish bounced back on Wednesday to even the 3 game series at 1 with a 2-0 win at Chelsea High. Kit Kadlec continued his scoreless inning streak at 14 with the complete game shutout. Kadlec gave up 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 7. Ken Kilduff threw very well as the spot starter for the Yankees (with Gauvin stuck at work). Kilduff gave up 6 hits and two earned runs while walking 3 and striking out 8. The Bluefish got on the board in the 4th after a leadoff single by Kadlec, it was a perfect hit and run by Al Becker down the RF line scoring Kadlec from first. They added an insurance run in the 6th on a 2 out single by Jeremy Creveling, scoring Mark Doucette, who was hit by a pitch. Game 3, Saturday, at Moakley Park in South Boston, gametime 10am.

Backed by the strong pitching of Quinn Ryan, the Yankees won the 1st game of the Atlantic Conference Championship 6-1. Ryan allowed just 1 ER over 7 innings on 5 hits while striking out 8. Ryan’s only blemish was a solo homerun to Chris Harrington in the 4th.

Offensively, the Yanks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st after a lead off walk by AJ Bucciarelli (1-3), a single by Mike Moloney (2-4, RBI) and an RBI single by Tim Troville (1-2, RBI). The Yanks then got some breathing room in the 3rd scoring 3 runs highlighted by a Jeff McHugh (1-3, triple, 2 RBI) 2-out, 2 RBI triple.

Chris O’Sullivan took the complete game loss for the Bluefish. Kit Kadlec and Mark Doucette had multi-hit games for the fish.

For the 2nd straight game, the Yanks won in their final AB.

The Yanks knocked out 6 hits in the top of the 1st to grab a 5-0 lead. But that lead would not last for long as the Marlins chipped away with single runs in the 1st and 5th and 2 runs in the 3rd. With the Marlins down 5-4, Chris Ryan delivered the game tying run in the bottom of the 6th to even the score at 5-5.

In the 7th, the Yanks regained the lead thanks to a Mike Moloney (2-4, RBI) bases loaded single. The Yanks would score another 3 runs for the eventual final score of 9-5.

Tim Troville pitched 2 innings in relief of Ken Kilduff to pick up the win. Neil Doherty took the loss for the Marlins pitching well after the tough 1st inning.

For the Yanks, Ned Coffee (2-3, 2 2B, 2 RBI) and Jeff McHugh (3-4, RBI) both had multihit games. For the Marlins, Adam Etheringon, Kevin Brennan and Herr also has 2 hits a piece.

n the 1st game of the playoffs, the Yanks jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the 1st after a few walks and a Mike Moloney (2-3, 2B, RBI) RBI single. The scored remained 2-0 as Bryan Gauvin took a no hitter into the 5th. But with two outs and after a few walks, Andy Adam Etherington and Andy Katz came up with huge 2-out RBI singles to tie the score 2-2.

In the bottom of the 7th, the Yanks loaded the bases with no outs with a walk and a few hits. Marlins starter Kevin Brennan almost pitched out of the jam striking out the next two batters. But with two outs, AJ Bucciarelli was hit with a pitch to bring in the winning run.

Gauvin earned the complete game win allowing 2 ER on 3 hits while striking out 10. Brennan pitched well but took the loss.

The Reds clinched first place in the Bay State with a last inning comeback over the Yankees.

Chris Allen pitched the complete game on three days rest. He gave up two unearned runs, and finished with 7 K's. He was matched with equally good pitching from Quinn Ryan and Tim Troville.

Down 2-1 in the seventh Sean Magee drew a one out walk. Chris Allen roped one to center. Brian Straccia reached on an error. Magee then scored the tying run on a wild pitch. Brandon Moore brought in the eventual winning run with a huge hit to center. The Reds added another run on a Dunne fielders choice, scoring the pinch runner Niemi. Allen put the Yankees down in order in the seventh to seal the victory.

Allen pitches a gem on three days rest, Moore drives in the winning run.

In a battle of power vs finesse, Neil Doherty and Bryan Gauvin locked up in a pitcher’s dual at Bedford high school. With the win, the Yanks clinch the #1 seed in the Atlantic.

The Yanks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 2nd on a Gary Moran (2-3, RBI) 2-out RBI single. Doherty and the Marlins defense kept the Yanks offense at bay until the 7th when Moran led off the inning with his 2nd hit of the game. Moran later scored on an error to give the Yanks a 2-0 lead they would not relinquish.

In his last start of the regular season, Gauvin struck out 9 while allowing just 3 hits. The Yanks defense was perfect with several nice plays made in the infield. Gauvin finishes the season a perfect 8-0 with a 0.86 ERA. Doherty took the tough loss for the Marlins allowing no earned runs and pitched out of several jams.

The Astros took an early 3-0 lead scoring 2 in the 1st and 1 in the 2nd. But in the bottom of the 3rd, the Yanks came back with 4 runs highlighted by a bases loaded 2 run single by Jeff Coveney (1-3, 2 RBI) and an RBI single by Mike Moloney (1-3, RBI). Brandon Long knocked in an insurance run in the 6th inning to give the Yanks a 5-3 lead.

On the Hill, Ken Kilduff struck out 10 to improve to 7-1. Kilduff allowed 3 runs (1ER) on 5 hits over 7 innings. Pelletier pitched well for the Astros in the complete game loss. AJ Bucciarelli also had 2 hits on the night.

In a wet one at the Circle, the Yanks improved to 19-3. The Yanks jumped out a quick 6-0 lead after two innings highlighted by two Tim Troville (3-4, 2 2B, 3 RBI) RBI doubles. But the Dodgers came right back in the bottom of the 2nd scoring 4 of their own.

The Yanks answered with a 5 run 5th powered by a Greg Crossman (2-4, HR, RBI) homerun and a Jeff Coveney 2 run single.

For the Yanks, AJ Bucciarelli (2-5) and Todd Steffanides (3-4, 2 SB) had multi-hit games. Steffandies also made two spectacular plays at SS. The Dodgers’Jose Alicea had two doubles.

On the hill, Bryan Gauvin earned the win tossing 5 innings. Showing he is human, Gauvin allowed more earned runs in one inning (4) than he has all year (1).
