Led by the bat of Luke Bakker, the Spinners defeated the Waltham Athletics 6-1. Bakker tripled twice and drove in four runs. Alex Benson and Colin Sullivan each contribute to the winning effort with two hits apiece.

Dan Blomerth earned the win for Cambridge, pitching four innings, giving up just three hits.

Adam Chochrek and Nick Barton contributed two hits in the losing effort for the A’s.

The Spinners won their home opener over the Boston Bombers 5-2 in a rematch of last year’s finals. Mario Padovani earned the win on the mound, pitching five shutout innings and giving up two hits. Dan Blum came on in relief for the save.

Alex Benson and Kyle Maglio scored runs in the first to put Cambridge on the board. Drew Risk, Sean Merrigan and Brett Manley all scored in the fourth to pad their lead.

Bryan Safelle took the loss for the Bombers, pitching five innings while striking out two.
