Boston Havoc 5, Middleboro Mocka Rays 2
For the second straight game, Havoc Brendan Pounds, made an acrobatic last-inning catch in centerfield and proceeded to double-off a baserunner unable to return to base quick enough. This time, it ended the game.
With the win, the Havoc secured their 17th straight victory, passing the 2000 Boston Pirates who won 16 straight, for the longest win streak in BMBL division history.
Luke Hils improved to 8-0, throwing 6 innings with 10 Ks, allowing 2 earned runs. His 0.65 ERA is league-leading. Brandon Buckley earned his 3rd save.
The Havoc jumped out to a quick lead, scoring 2 runs when the first three batters of the game singled (Will Marsh, Ryan Foley and Romello Carbuccia).
In the second inning, Brendan Pounds walked, stole second, and scored on a fielder's choice to make the score 3-0. Later runs were insurance.
The Rays fought hard until the end, smacking 4 hits in the 6th inning to score a pair and keep the game close. |
