What a way to end a disappointing season.
Adam Messom, captain of the team , goes out and fires his second no hitter in three years.

It looked like it was going to be a special night from the beginning after Adam struck out the side to end the game.
After 3 scoreless innings Paul D'Agostino lead of with a single to left and Messom came to the plate and lasered a 2-run homer to the right center gap to give the Cardinals the lead.
Good defense and hitting by the Cardinals set it up in the seventh where Messom finished the Hurricanes off by striking out the side.
Greg Curtis capped the offense off by lacing a 2-run triple down the left field line, Curtis finished the season with a hit in every game played (16). Billy Piacatelli also contributed with a pair of hits and also gave the team a scare when he took a Curtis line drive off the head while leading do |

Good pitching performances by both teams, with both pitchers going the route.
Defense played the story in this game, most of the runs scored were when either side lapsed on the defense with miscues.
Hurricanes swiped a run in the top of the 7th to tie the game.
Bottom of the 7th after 2 quick outs John Pigott
is HBP and steals second , with 2 strikes Keith Scalese laces a game winning hit to left center.
Scalese ended up 2-3 with game winning rbi

The new improved Hurricanes gave the Thunder a tough game. Edison had 3 hits and King 2 to pace their attack. The Thunder kept coming back, scoring 6 in the final 3 innings to win. Jim Beers had 3 hits including the game winning RBI to lead the Thunder. Bill Smith, Mike Rose and Gregg Bromley had 2 hits each to help. Mike Rose pitched the complete game victory. |

Some new recruits helped the Hurricanes defeat the Thunder in game 2 of the doubleheader (the Friday night rainout was made up as game 2 on Sunday). Pitcher Dan Jay was very effective shutting down the Thunder offense after a 3 run rally in the 3rd. The Hurricanes put up a 6-run 2nd on hits by King, Papa, Rouge and a double by Jay. |

The Brew Crew held on at the end to win their first game of the year. After building a commanding lead through 6, The Brewers almost let it slip away. The Hurricanes with some powerful hitting scored 7 in the 7th to almost pull it out. Steve Ponte, Jason Ignacio and Bob Thomas each collected two hits for the Brewers, withThomas getting 4 RBIs. Doug Chase had another strong outing going 5 innings and giving up only 4 runs.
