Somerville Alibrandis 5, Lawrence Pirates 2
Game 3 began about 10 minutes after the conclusion of the crazy game 2 at Morelli Field. Somerville jumped out on top in the first inning with a Deane double and Desroches SF. Somerville then added another run in the 3rd inning with one out hits by Mitrou and Deane; Desroches then knocked in Mitrou with a single giving Somerville a 2-0 lead after 3. Lawrence then came back in the 4th with a Toledano two RBI single scoring Norris and Hernandez. The game then remained tied with fabulous pitching by Mercendes of Lawrence and Desroches of Somerville until the bottom of the 6th when Winant lead off with an infield singe and then Stephenson laid down a SF bunt that was mishandled which lead to runner ion 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Strassmann then delivered a one-out RBI single to score Winant. Terrio then followed with a bunt single that was then missed played allowing Strassmann and Stephenson to score giving Somerville a 5-2 lead. The |

In an epic game 2 Somerville jumps out with 5 runs in the first inning with RBI hits by Iandoli, Stephenson and Strassmann. Somerville then added 3 more in the 2nd with hits by MItrou, Deane and Winant which gave Somerville a 9-1 lead after 3 innings. Lawrence then came storming back with 13 runs in the 4th, 5th and 6th innings that was capped by a two-out two-strike bases clearing triple by Fesh giving Lawrence the lead 14-13 at the end of the 6th. Deane started the top of the 7th with a lead off double and was knocked in by an RBI single by Iandoli tying the game at 14. The game was then suspended at 11:15 at Trum in Somerville as the lights went out. The game was continued two nights later at Morelli field in Melrose. In the top of the 9th a lead off error and hit by Tracy gave Somerville two men on and no out but Lawrence pitcher Mercendes then got two big outs but then Iandoli lined a single up the middle to score Terrio with |

Lawrence jumps out early with a 5 spot in the first inning to take game 1. Billy Smeglin goes the distance with a great pitching performance that kept the Somerville bats off balance all night. |

Somerville jumped out early with a Mitrou single, an RBI double by Deane and an RBI single by Iandoli before an out was recorded. Somerville added a single run in the second with an RBI double by DeMattia scoring Winant who singled. Somerville added another in the third on a Mitrou single and a Currie SF. Somerville then added 4 more runs in the 6th on hits by Currie, Stephenson, Winant, and a clutch two run single by Terrio. Strassmann then followed with a two RBI double to close out the scoring. 10 of Somerville's 11 hitters had at least 1 hit apiece.
Rob Stephenson went the distance and lost his no-hit bid with one out in the 6th on a Hayes infield single. Stephenson ended up with a dominate CG 2-hit shutout.

A very well played game 1 by both teams. The BrewSox jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a Somerville fielding miscue. Somerville came back and tied it up by manufacturing a run in the 3rd on an Iandoli single and a Currie gound out. Somerville then added 2 more in the 4th with a double by Demattia scoring Strassmann (who singled) and a SF by Levensaler. Somerville then added 2 more in the 5th with Deane and Iandoli singles and a Winant bases loaded walk and a Strassmann SF. The Brew Sox battled back to get the tying run on 2nd in the 7th with a walk to Hayes (2 hits and 2 walks) and hits by Anderson and Songin but McCarthy was able to get out it with a ground out to end the game. Barry Foster threw well in defeat for the BrewSox. Game 2 Friday night at Trum in Somerville |
