The Dodgers step up to the door of the playoffs, a haven not seen in countless years, behind the Moose's ("I was flown in to pitch. nbd") 5 workmanlike inning win.

South End responded to an early deficit with 3 in the 3rd highlighted by a 2out 2bi double from Alvarez. Baez goes 3-for-4 with 2 runs, and Linn adds 2 hits.

Everyone on the Dodger lineup safely reached base at least once, led by RosenSwag who flipped his bat over and went 3-for-4 with 4rbi, including a 2-run triple in the 5th. Brett "......" O'Keefe had short covered so well that he was getting dirty when the ball wasn't even hit to him.

Matchbox MVP (where is that thing?) to the Swag
Fan of the Game: My parents, cuz I said so. (honorable mention: Michienzi.....that handsome bastard.)

Derek Dubois set the tone early and continued through the night, giving up 2 hits in 6 innings, while striking out 8, walking 1, and 1 HBP. Pat Bresnehan worked a perfect 7th to complete the game.
Offensively, the night belonged to Justin Wojcik (2-4, 2B, 3R) and Jon Argetsinger (4-5, 2B, 3RBI) who combined for 6 hits. Wojcik added solid glovework to the mix as well to keep the Astros offense at bay.

Once again, pitching is the name of the game. Samp and Tejada do battle, each throwing complete games. For the Astros, Tejada scatters 5 hits in the tough loss, the only runs scored on sacrifice flies. One from Clarke in the 3rd, and the other from Tapper the 5th on a deep fly to left....one of about 4 balls hit that would have been gone if the wind wasn't involved.

Billig remains hot.....maybe warm-ish, I guess, reaching base 3 times via walk.

But the story of the night was Eddie "Guns" Samp. Samp took a perfect game into the 5th, but lost that on a slow curveball that hit the batter getting the Astros their first runner of the night. The no-hitter was broken up in the 7th on a grounder up the middle from Uribe. Campbell made a good bid on a tough play, but lost his footing and now owes Samp something tasty in a coconut.

Matchbox MVP of course goes to Mr. Samp.

Savin Hill Dodgers 1 0 0 2 0 0 x 3 5 1

As close to what a real baseball game can look like, the Dodgers win a pitching battle at McConnell courtesy of a Dave Clarke (2/3,2rbi) single to right center in the 4th.

South End scores their lone run on a single through the box in the 6th by Rommel Peguero.

The rest of the night was efficient pitching. Starling Arias throws a complete game in defeat, throwing 114 pitches and striking out 10 Dodgers.

The Mad Canuck Huber takes home the Matchbox MVP award with the CG win, yielding only 1 unearned run and dropping 6ks. He got some help with a stellar play at 2nd from Campbell, displaying Herculean range (Hercules had mad range, too) up the middle, robbing an RBI single from Peguero.

Rocks get on the board in the first thanks to a bases clearing double by Bobby Foote. That hit would give Foote 11 RBIs in his last 5 games.

In the 2nd Rockies added 2 more on Tom Englehardst single and a throwing error by Tejada.

Thats all Chris Sandini would need as he picks up the win, striking out 9 and allowing 4 hits in 6 innings of work.

No better way to waste 3 hours on a Thursday night than to have a game end in a 6-6 tie. The Astros got to Nationals pitching early and racing out to a 6-2 lead before the Nats chip away and eventually score 3 in the top of 7th to even the score.
The combination of 8 walks and 3 HBP helped the Astros push 6 runs across early, while the Nationals collected their runs on a bevy of Texas leaguers, dying quails, swinging bunts, and all other forms of interesting hits.
Cohen pitches 5 scoreless for the Nationals to stop the bleeding.
The past 3 years of this rivalry is STILL tied at 3 wins a piece, plus this tied game.
