Scott Hampe was sharp through three innings for Grossman, only allowing one hit and one run while facing ten batters, but ran into big trouble in the 4th and 5th.

With the jaws of defeat firmly imbedded at every turn, Towne pulled one out as close to the end as you can get. Despite having rallied to pull their comeback to within one run, Towne faced a last gasp 7th inning with two outs and nobody on base. Tim Corey reached on an error and was seemingly erased at second for the game-ending out. But the overthrow had gone out of play, and he was awarded second base. Vinny Monahan singled him home and took second on the throw, from where he would score the game-winner on Steven Gilbert's single.

But, back in the first it was an entirely different story. The first four Cannon batters singled, and they would send 12 men to the plate. Nick Neshe, who would get three hits on the night, got the inning started, and CJ Flannery got two hits in the frame, scored a run and drove another home.

Ed Bernstein, who had come on for Towne in the first, settled down and kept the game from becoming a laug

It was a battle between bitter, well coached (and dressed) rivals. With both Joe Lucier (Palmer) and Tom Ryan (Towne) dealing throughout the game, runs were tough to come by in the first 4 1/2 innings until Palmer had a 2-out rally capped off by a Brian Medairos missile to right field. Ryan was pulled after an approximately 15 minute rain delay and Palmer took advantage, scoring 3 times. One of those runs came on a screamer of a line drive triple off the bat of Jim Pierce as Johnny Phelan sluggishly came in from second. Lucier went the distance, allowing no runs on 6 hits with 4 strikeouts.

Defensive gem turned in by Kevin Murphy with a diving catch in left field. Chris Hoyt ripped the ball three times (single, triple) for Towne, but not much else happened offensively for them.

Cannon Club 0 0 0 1 3 0 0 4 6 2

An exciting game that almost saw a Towne comeback with the tying run stranded on third in the 7th.

Rizzo starts the first with a hit and later scores on Collins' single. Cannon ties it up in the 4th when Neshe works the count to draw a bases loaded walk.

Cannon breaks through in the 5th when Newton leads off with a single and moves to third on a botched double play ball. Allen hits a booming triple into the trees that plates 2 and later scores on Mccues single.

Towne not done, Hoyt leads off with a triple of his own but is cut down tagging up by a rifle throw from Allen in right preserving the score.

With one out and two on in the 7th, Corey sends a ball into the trees and just misses a HR by inches and has to settle for a 2 run triple. Campion digs down and K's the last batter to leave him there for the win.

Just a killer grinder of a ballgame. Towne opens the scoring on Billy Collins RBI double in the first. He singled in two more in the third and scored. However, ADSL jumped out with three of their own in the second on Jason Cholish's long double and singles by John Arens, Joe Presti and Bobby Barrett. Then the home team tacked on two more to re-take the lead in the third on back-to-back doubles by Tom Kelly and Mike Davis and Cholish's sacrifice fly. And back and forth it went. Grant Bowen led the top of the 6th with a long double and scored on Ryan Rizzo's 2-out infield leg single. And finally, Alex Venditti tripled home Collins, who had singled with two out in the 7th, for the winner. But even then it really wasn't over. Tim Corey, earning his first Park League win, got out of an inherited jam in the 6th and in the 7th stranded the tying run at third to end the game. Eli Libby went the route for ADSL.

Right from the very first batter of the game Tom Ryan had his stuff tonight, mixing his pitches and hitting his spots. And for 6 1/3 innings the only Grossman batter to reach was on an infield error. Then with one out in the 7th another error was followed (with one out to go for a no-hitter) by Pete Cimini's clean drive down the RF line for a run-scoring triple. Ryan, in picking up his 5th win of the year, recorded 9 Ks and allowed only one other ball hit to the outfield. Ryan Rizzo got the scoring started for Towne with a two-out single in the second. He had three hits (for the third time of late), stole 2 more bases, began two more rallies and scored two runs. Chris Hoyt had three hits, as well, as he and Steven Gilbert at the top of the order were on base six times with three stolen bases and three runs scored. Alex Venditti knocked in two runs.

Terrence Walsh hurls five scoreless innings in relief for Towne, but Bowen is the story as Towne fails to get a runner to third all night.

After three straight losses with their top three starters on the hill and facing a 5-game week, Towne Club needed a boost and got it in a complete game win by Dave McCullough (1-0) in his second start and a sustained offense throughout the game. Alex Venditti got the ball rolling with a jaw-dropping, 2-run blast in the first that left the yard at Kelley and stunned observers on both sides of the field. Dana Dresser got four hits and 3 RBI on the eve of his bachelor party and Ryan Rizzo had a single, double and triple and four runs batted in

Joey Lucier (6 IP, 3 ER, 3 K's, 4 hits) finally received run support and got the win for Palmer in a battle of top seeded Boston Park League teams. Palmer busted out the bats last night as 7 different guys had hits, including Chris Curran (3-4, HR and 2 RBI's) and Johnny Phelan both having multi-hit games. Palmer player/coach JP Songin bending the mind of opposing Towne Club coach Harvey Soolman into a proverbial pretzel by adjusting pre-game (agreed upon by both coaches) ground rules that allowed Curran to hit his first ever homerun in the Boston Park League. The ball was presented to Chris for his greatest baseball achievement after accomplishing the feat.

Towne jumps out to an early three nothing lead with the first three batters of the game scoring. That is the extent of the scoring for Towne as Bret Urban settles down giving up just one more hit while striking out seven through six innings. Adam Fournier (Franklin Pierce University) is impressive in his Park League debut picking up the save while striking out the side in the 7th. Towne makes it interesting with three base runners but fails to score.

Grossman chips away at the early deficit with Andrew Tenaglia (2 doubles) and Chris Malloy (3 hits) pacing the offense. Dan Findley knocks in the eventual game winner in the 5th.

Chris Hoytt is on base in all four at bats with three hits including a double in the 7th.

Ryan Rizzo pinch-ran for Bowen and stole third. He was later forced at the plate, but Tim Corey rode home on Gilbert's base hit.

Eric Williams had held Towne to three hits and no walks over the first six, and the only threat Towne had was when they knotted the score in the 4th on Alex Venditti's double and Dresser's RBI single.

Dillon Dresser (3-1) hurled a 2-hit shutout, and that's what it was going to take to beat Josh Desai in this one. Though it took a lot of help from Towne center fielder Chris Hoyt, who made a spectacular game ending diving catch into the gap with two runners headed for the plate.

Dresser got out of jams in the first and seventh both in which he walked two - his only free passes of the night - and allowed only two singles to Rob Caggiano.

Desai struck out 11 and only gave up one walk and a hit batter to go along with three hits.

Towne scored in the first as Hoyt walked, Dana Dresser reached on an error, Hoyt stole third and then they pulled off a double steal with Hoyt scoring. Vinnie Monahan's 2-out single in the 7th scored Alex Venditti, who had singled and moved up on Grant Bowen's sacrifice bunt. Tim Corey (double) had the game's only other hit.
