In the 33rd and final game of the season the Astros sent Joey "Eyeball" Ortiz to the mound for his first start of the season. Ortiz responded with a complete game victory, scattering 5 hits and giving up 4 runs, only 2 earned and striking out 6.

Offensively Brad "The Beard" Presler and Rommel Peguero had 2 doubles each, and Eddy Morrobel Castillo and Presler had 3 RBI each. Coach Carl Rodriguez scored the game winning run after taking one off the back of the head and stealing second base, which is about as rare as Big Papi swiping a bag!

The Astros finish up the season with a 13-19-1 record. Certainly not the end result we were hoping for, but this team has increased its win total for the 3rd consecutive season, and beat some great teams along the way! The future looks bright....until next year.........

Yes, the Mmen win...

Trailing by three in the 8th, the M-Men rally in walkoff fashion and beat the South End Astros by a score of 5-4.
After loading the bases, the Astros bring in the closer to quell the rally. After falling behind in the count, the batter Fitmaurice delivers with a hit to right driving in two. Will Bermel then follows with a SAC fly to Center setting the stage for Mike Nardelli, who rips the ball through the infield and drives in the winning run.

Ryan Bere picks up the victory in relief for starter Kevin Zylka who pitched effectively for 6 strong.

Chris Deane, a newcomer to the pitching mound, was equally impressive for the Astros scattering several hits over 7+ innings of work.

Morse goes 5 strong earning the win. Cosmopolus pitches the 6th, and Tanguy the 7th.

That win was number 40 for Morse in his career.

Offensively Dziuba had 3 hits and 2 RBI. Lapaglia hits 2 run homerun in the 5th to add to the lead.

Greeley goes the distance for his 5th win and the Braves magic number to clinch a playoff berth is now down to 1.

The top of the Braves order gets the job done as the 1 through 5 hitters go a combined 8 for 14 with 6 RBI. Uberti goes 2-2 with 3 RBI while Lee continues his hot streak collecting 2 more hits.

Presler collects three hits for the Astros while Politsopoulos had 2 RBI on a 2-out, 2 run double in the 7th.

Milciades Santana goes 7 innings striking out 9 for the complete game 2 hit shutout, and improves his record to 6-3 on the season. More importantly, the win puts the Astros back into the 8th and final playoff spot....for now.

Offensively Alex Weldon had a 2RBI triple in the 4th to give the Astros a 5-0 lead. Omar Ortiz and Jhiomar Veras also had 1 RBI each

Dan Gaughan fired a 3-hitter, and Steve Lambert's 2-rbi-double put the A's up for good as they held on for a 7-2 victory at Jim Rice Field.

Bill Donahue had 3 hits for the Al Thomas Club, while Tom Trull singled and walked 3 times, and Dakota Happas walked 3 times before leaving with a lower body injury.

Peguera, Ortiz and Veras (2b, 2 rbi) had the hits for South End.

Freddi Carrera's 2-run single gave the Al Thomas Club the lead 6-5 and capped a 4-run bottom of the 6th as the A's edge the Astros 6-5.

Willie Archibald picked up his 5th win, settling down after a rough start and some bad luck. james Katsiroubas had the other 3 hits for the A's.

Peguero and Morrobel had 2 hits apiece to lead South End, while Carmona was the tough luck losing pitcher, striking out 11 in defeat.

Missing 3 starters, and coming off a crushing 8 inning defeat the night before, the Astros needed a miracle...and got it!

Alex Weldon threw 147 pitches in 9 innings, giving up 5 hits and 1 run in the 2nd inning, and single handedly won the game for the Astros tonight!

Offensively Politsopoulos, Rodriguez, and Weldon had 1 hit each, but the biggest hit came off the bat of...who else....Chris Deane! Deane drove in the winning run in the top of the 9th, and ended his night 2-4. A much needed, hard fought, and ballsy win for the Astros against a scrappy Malden team!

Great baseball game!

Del Prete throws 7 strong, and DesRoches pitches the 8th to earn the win.

Offensively Gillis, Rogers, and Crisafulli each had two hits.

Somerville wins in the 8th on a Gillis single, stolen base, and Rogers driving him in with a single off Valdez.

Defensive play of the game was a diving catch by Maguire to save at least a run in the 6th.

DesRoches strikes out his 500th in his career tonight in his inning of work.

Roxbury, MA..The Knights traveled to the South End to face off against the Astros at Jim Rice Field in the 2nd game of a home and home series. The Knights sent Branden Eaton to the bump to face off against Julio Carmona. Eaton allowed a leadoff homerun to Rommel Peguero and settled in nicely after that only allowing an unearned run in the 4th. This was a pitchers dual for most of the night as Carmona kept the Knights off balance for a solid 6 innings.

The Knights then mounted another comeback against the Astros. Matty Rodriguez led the inning off against fireballer Eddy Morrobel and was hit by a pitch to start the rally. Morrobel would then walk the next 2 batters to load the bases. The Astros would make the call to the bullpen bringing in Mike Rizzo setting the stage for Jose Paulino. Paulino would then lace a double to right center field to score 2 runs to tie the game. The Knights score 2 more to take a 4-2 lead to win the game.

Aided by a huge 10 run 7th inning, the Astros get the 13-2 win and pull into a tie with Al Thomas for 1st place in the division.

On the mound, Alex Weldon goes 4 innings giving up 1 unearned run for his 2nd win of the season. Julio Carmona got the 3 inning save, striking out 7.

Chris "Hulk" Deane and Jhiomar Veras had 3 hits and 2 RBI each. The Astros finished the game with 12 hits and 9 walks.

Denny Valdez picked up the 2 inning save. His 90+mph fastball had the crowd at Jim Rice Field in a frenzy! Valdez struck out 7 in his 2 innings of work.

The Astros defense was stellar tonight, led by Paul Politsopoulos at 2nd base, and Jhiomar Veras' amazing running catch in center. Much needed win....

TJ Desmond started and gave up 3 unearned runs over 5 innings. Jesse Shapiro was sharp in the 6th inning picking up his first Yawkey League victory. Brad Pressler was impressive in the start for the Astros.

For Savin Hill, Matt Jamula and Nate Hodor had 2 hits apiece. Nate knocking in Matt in both the 1st and 3rd innings.

South End spread out their offense with Rommel Peguero getting a big 2-run double in the 4th to put the Astros ahead.

Offensively Mike Robinson led the way for the Sabers. Robinson had 2 hits, including a 2 run homer in the 4th. The homerun would be Robinson's 100th career Yawkey League hit, doing it in 3 short years. Congratulations to Robinson!

The Sabers scored 3 early. After a pair of singles from Ryan Flanagan and Robinson. Travis Adams, Angelo Colucci and Rob MacDonald would all RBI singles

In the 3rd the Sabers would add 2 more. Adams would score on an error after stealing a base. Nick Schauwecker would then single in MacDonald

Veras had 2 hits for the Astros

After what felt like 3 months of rainouts, the Dodgers and Astros finally got back on the dimaond to play some baseball.

Kyle "Moose" Breidenstine throws 6 strong for his 2nd win of the season, giving up 2 runs. The Dodgers put up 10 hits coming from all over the lineup. Jonny "Blaze" Edwards led the attack with a 2-for-4 day and 3 RBI. Jerrad Ryan also had 2 hits and a steal. In the field, Mike Cosenza patrolled the hot corner, absolutely robbing Francis Reyes of a pair of hits with a diving stop down the line and another play ranging into his hole.

For the Astros, Chris Deane had a 4-hit day knocking in 3 runs, and Steven Baldissari plated 3 with a bases-loaded double in the frenzied final frame.

The teams will meet up on the back end of a home-and-home at Ronan Monday night.

On a steamy day at Jim Rice Field, Brad "Thor" Presler dropped the hammer on the Braves for a complete game 2-1 victory.

Tom Fitzpatrick made a guest appearance to help his old mates defeat the Astros 9-2. Fitzy tossed 5 innings and scattered 3 hits allowing 1 earned run. Tommy will venture to the Future's League to play for Harwich.

Beacons plated 8 huge runs in the 5th. Highlight was 3 run sky rocket bomb by Drew Tambling. It was a classic Tam Shot into the trees for a triple. This all happened after two were out.

Long season ahead...but its good to win.

Beautiful day for a ballgame at Jim Rice Field as the West Roxbury Nationals, new to the YBL in 2013, notched their first franchise win against a strong South End Astros team.
Paul Szydlowski made his first start since 2012 elbow surgery, and rookie Dave Silletti provided both relief pitching and offense to help power a 16-7 victory for the Nats.
The club, comprised mostly of YBL rookies, will hand the ball to another rookie on Tuesday the 21st for the 2nd of 3 games this week between the clubs.
As always, family and friends are welcome to come watch the YBL action free of charge at one of the city's finest facilities.

Starter Milciades Santana threw 6 strong shutout innings striking out 8 and only giving up 2 hits. Jonathan Matos and rookie closer Eddy Morrobel finished off the 7th inning striking out the side.

At the plate the Astros were lead by veteran Chris Deane (2-2, 2RBI, BB), and Josh Valerio (2-3, 2R), and Miguel Rodriguez (2-3). Francis Reyes, Paul Politsopoulos, Moises Maza, Rommel Peguero, and Alex Weldon also had a hit each.
