Bravos Bravos Bravos win their first playoff series in 32 years!

Both clubs sent their Game 1 starters (Clang & Smitty) back to the hill on 3 days' rest and neither disappointed. The only run allowed in the game was unearned, when Risk singled in Robb who had reached on an error.

Props to the A's on another hard-fought series, and best wishes to Chief in retirement!

Another incredible battle between these two teams, and the Braves walk off with a win!

Game remained scoreless through 3. Lambert drives in a run with 2 outs in the top of the 4th. Uberti answers with a solo homer to right, tying the game 1-1 in the bottom half.

Braves plate a run in the 5th on a bloop by Lee, scoring Huddy. But in the top of the 6th, the A's put men on 2nd & 3rd with 1 out. Wheeler drives a bomb to the gap in left center, the tying run scores, but the Braves cut down the would-be-go-ahead run with an 8-6-2 relay.

A's score 1 more in the 7th when a wild pitch gets through the gate with a man on 3rd. In the bottom half, Kerby leads off with a BB, Coscione bunts him over, Lee drives in the run & advances to second, and then Robb delivers the walkoff single to shallow left.

Braves take 2-1 series lead.

James Katsiroubas hit a 2-run homer in a 4-run first inning and recorded a save to preserve the 5-3 victory for Al Thomas.

Willie Archibald threw 6 solid innings for the win, while John Kostas and Steve Lambert each ripped a single and a double.

Alex Lee had 3 hits (2 doubles) and Evan Hudson had 2 hits to lead the Braves.

Series tied at one apiece.

In a rematch of last year's 1st round series, these 2 teams picked up right where they left off, battling back and forth in another nailbiter. Both teams had uncharacteristic defensive jitters, which cost them both some runs, but Clanger and Smitty both battled the whole night.

A's jump out to a 2-0 lead on a wild pitch and a passed ball. Braves answer in the next frame with 4 runs, capped by a tremendous 3-run double to left center by Uberti.

The A's chipped away with another run in the 4th, and tied it up in the 6th on a mammoth HR to left by Katsi.

In the top of the 7th, after two quick outs, Teddy Ballgame draws a walk, Robb singles, and Uberti comes up huge again with an RBI single to right, giving them the 5-4 lead.

The A's put men on 1st & 3rd in the 7th, but Smitty induces a 4-3 grounder to end the game.

Braves earn 1st postseason victory since 1981.

A balanced offense backed solid pitching by Bill Clang as the Al Thomas Club beat the Braves 7-3 to capture their 4th division title in 5 years.

Freddi Carrera, Pat McDonough and Kevin White each had 2 hits for the A's.

Uberti and Kerbin had 2 hits apiece for the Braves.

Braves get some timely hitting and another strong outing by Smith for the victory over East Boston as the Braves clinch a postseason birth in consecutive seasons.

A great matchup in Peabody after a last minute field change pitted Hueston vs Smith. Hueston started strong throwing 3 scoreless. Knights jumped out in the 1st on a leadoff single and a double. Knights add another in the 3rd. Braves finally got to Hueston in the 4th plating 3 on a bases loaded HBP and a Lee 2 run single. Braves add an insurance run in the 5th on a SAC Fly by Tracy to score Uberti. Smith (3 H, 2 R, 8 K) let up a single and double in the 1st and another double in the 3rd but would shut the door on the Knights for the rest of the game facing just one more than the minimum over the last 4 frames.

Lee (3-4, 2 RBI) and Uberti (2-3, R) continued their hot streaks at the plate for the Braves.

Paulino, Mercado (2B) and Harris (2B) had the hits for the Knights

Greeley goes the distance for his 5th win and the Braves magic number to clinch a playoff berth is now down to 1.

The top of the Braves order gets the job done as the 1 through 5 hitters go a combined 8 for 14 with 6 RBI. Uberti goes 2-2 with 3 RBI while Lee continues his hot streak collecting 2 more hits.

Presler collects three hits for the Astros while Politsopoulos had 2 RBI on a 2-out, 2 run double in the 7th.

The Dogs are making a run at the playoffs, winning 6 of their last 7 games. Blaine "Beano" McLean picks up his third win of the season going the distance giving up an unearned run on an errant pick-off throw.

Delaney goes 3-4 with an RBI, Roman gets two hits and knocks in a run and Barbati picks up a couple of RBI's to lead the offense.

Braves get back to their winning ways as Smith goes the distance and Robb stays hot hitting his 1st YBL homerun.

Lee reached base in all four of his at bats going 2-2, 2B, 2 BB, 2 R. Robb was 2-3 with a HR, BB and 2 RBI. And Smith helped himself at the dish going 3-4 with an RBI.

Graham, Tenney and Raddabaugh had the hits for the Saints.

WALTHAM, MA...In game 2 of their doubleheader the Knights faced the red hot Brighton Braves for the first time this season. The Braves brought in a 9 game winning streak with them into Brandeis looking to extend the winning streak to 10. Taking the bump for the Knights was Steve Hueston. The Braves countered with Pete Lankarge.

The Braves would strike first plating a run in the first to jump out to a quick 1-0 lead. The Knights countered scoring 2 in the bottom of the frame to take a 2-1 lead. The Knights added another in the 4th on a long triple by Ace DiNapoli to make it 3-1. The Braves clawed back in the game in the fifth scoring 4 runs capped by a scorching double to right centerfield by Ted Tracy to take a 5-3 lead.

The Knights answered the bell in the bottom of the inning scoring 4 runs of their own on 6 consecutive hits to retake the lead 7-5. Closer Corey Laliberte went 1-2-3 in the 7th for his second save on the day.

Braves make it 9 in a row! Lankarge again goes all 7 scattering 8 hits, 4 K's & limiting the powerful Rockies offense to 2 ER. Robb was left hitless to end his streak at 14 while Smith laced a rocket line drive to center in the 6th to extend his to 10.

Rockies score 1 in 1st & 2nd on RBI singles by Santosuosso & Moran. Braves answer in the 2nd on a Cashman double followed by RBI singles by Kerbin, Risk and Lee. Braves get some insurance in the 7th on 2 HBPs, BB, Sac Fly and a Rockies throwing error. Rockies make things interesting in the 7th, after a line-out and a Braves throwing error, get consecutive hits, scoring a run & loading the bases. Lankarge induces a grounder up the middle, handled by Lee for the game ending double play.

Swaz (2 RBI) & DelRio led the Rockies offense with 2 hits each. Rockies pitching combine for 8 Ks on the night.

Braves get a much needed 2 day rest before taking on the streaking Saints on Thursday

A weary Braves team makes it 8 in a row as Smith hurls a 2-hit shutout. Robb and Smith extend their hitting streaks to 14 and 9. Cashman (2 2B) and Tracy (RBI) lead the offense with 2 hits each while Uberti collects 3 more RBIs.

Braves score in the 2nd on a Kerbin single following Cash's 1st double. Two more were added in the 3rd on back to back RBI singles by Smith and Tracy. Braves broke it open in the 6th as Lee was HBP with the bases loaded followed by a bases clearing double by Uberti.

Offensively, Lee scored thrice and Robb (R, 2 RBI, BB, SB) and Smith (R, 2 RBI, BB) extend their hitting streaks to 12 & 7, respectively. Web gem of the night comes in the 6th as Tracy takes a hit away from Campos on another diving grab in shallow left-center.

Ahearn homers for the Minutemen for the second time against Braves pitching. Ironman award goes to Barthel who battled for 2 innings on the hill despite an arm injury, giving way to Palumbo who quieted the Braves bats the rest of the way.

Braves bats come alive late, collecting 8 of their hits in the last 3 innings to top the Black Sox 4-1 at Rogers. Lankarge goes the distance allowing an unearned run and making his outfielders feel useless as all recorded outs were made by the infielders including some stellar defense at short by Lee.

Robb (3 hits) and Smith (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI) continue their hot streaks at the plate and extend their hitting streaks to 11 and 6 games, respectively. Lee collects 3 hits, scores twice and has an RBI for a superb all around game.

Sox plate a run in the 3rd on the lone error of the game. Braves score 2 in the 5th on RBI singles by Lee and Uberti. Smith then knocks in 2 insurance runs in the 7th on a double to right-center.

Hopwood, Cam Owens, JT Ross and Varakis had the hits for the Black Sox.

Braves make it 5 in a row as Frankie "Chuck Goode" C. makes another appearance to root on his beloved Braves.

Chuck good! Smitty was dominant on the corners all night, as he went the distance, striking out 9, while allowing 0 ER and only 3 hits, for his 3rd win (3-3).

Baserunning blunders aside, the offense was persistent for the Braves, as they put up quality ABs all night vs. one of the YBL's premier pitchers. Robb went 2-4, 2B, 3 R, extending his hitting streak to 10 games. Smitty (2-4, R, RBI) & Uberti (3-4, R, 2 RBI) continue to heat up at the dish. RiskyBiz delivered the biggest blast of the night when he launched a triple over CF in the 7th inning to plate 2 runs.

Like the mosquitoes of Canton, the Braves refused to quit on this muggy Monday night. They came from behind twice, including a 3-run rally in the 7th, to defeat the Nationals 4-2. This makes 3 in a row, as the Braves climb back up to .500.

Teddy Ballgame drove in 2 runs, giving the Braves a 2-out game-tying single in the 2nd, and an insurance run in the 7th.

Trailing 2-1 in the 7th with 1 out, Lee reached on a 15-foot squibber, then got to second on a wild pitch. He then scored the tying run when Robb laced a single to right, extending his hitting streak to 9 games. Shortly thereafter, for the 2nd straight game, Rainville "drove" in the eventual winning run via BB.

In the Chuck Good Department, Greeley went the distance, striking out 7, for his 3rd win (3-0). Bernstein pitched very well for the Nationals.

On a wild night at McConnell, the Braves come out on top in six long innings to beat Savin Hill. Braves bats finally wake up to halt their 4-game skid. Robb (3-4, BB) and Lee (2-4, 2B, 2R, BB) each drive in 4 runs. Rookie Hector Coscione collects 2 hits, 2 RBI and scores 4 runs.

Greeley picks up career win #10 in relief. Web gems of the night come in the 2nd as Ted Tracy makes a full extension, diving catch in shallow left to rob Campbell for the first out of the inning and then later with 2 outs Caminiti runs a long way in right, making a diving catch at the tree line to rob Murphy of extra bases and saving a run in the process.

Several Hornets had multi-hit games including Clarke (2-3, R), Hodor (2-3, 2B, RBI, R, BB), Morgan (2-3, R, HPB) and Spitzer (2-4, R, SB).

The Sabers jumped out to a 3-0 lead early. Zack Graham and Ryan Flanagan led off the game with a pair of singles, then Mike Robinson would get HBP to load the bases. When Travis Adams would hit in Graham and Rob MacDonald would hit a 2RBI single

In the 2nd the Sabers continued where they left off, adding 3 more runs. Christian Gonzalez and Graham would score. Then Flanagan would hit an RBI single to score Joe Parlow

The Sabers would push 2 more across in the 3rd. Flanagan added another RBI to score Gonzalez on a sac fly

In the 4th Nick Schauwecker would hit an RBI double to score Angelo Colucci

Lankarge improves to 3-0, and the Braves pull themselves back up to .500. This is the 3rd straight CG for Lankarge, who struck out 8 batters.

Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the 4th, the Dodgers began the inning with three consecutive singles by Ryan, Shatto, and Tapper. All three went on to score -- the last two via productive outs -- as the Dodgers tied the game.

But the Braves came right back with another run in the 5th, and held on to the lead the rest of the way. Five different Braves came through with RBIs, including 2 from Hudson. Uberti & Smith each had 2 hits. Risk was 1-1, R, 2B, 3 BB, SB, RBI. Uberti was 2-2, 2 R, 2 BB, RBI.

In the first inning with 2 outs, Mike Robinson would hit his first homerun of the year

In the 5th Angelo Colucci would lead off with a double but would get left stranded on second

Braves walk off with an extra inning win in their home opener!

The Braves take the lead with a 4-run rally in the 3rd & hold it until the 7th when the Sox stage a great comeback to force extras. Down 5-2, with 1 out in the 7th & 2 men on, Gaffney smokes a triple to center, and then scores the tying run on a Hopwood single.

Leading off the 9th, Robb is HBP & Tracy works a BB. Then Hudson, after falling behind 0-2 attempting to bunt, laces a single into left to plate the winning run.

Greeley (1-0) picks up the W with 2 scoreless IP in relief of Smith. The Braves turned DPs behind him in the 8th & 9th to keep it tied. Returning to the Braves after spending 2012 in Georgia, Lee goes 3-4 and scores 2 runs. Schools (2-3, 2B, R, RBI), Hudson (2-4, R, GW-RBI), and Cashman (2-4, BB, RBI) all had multi-hit games, and Uberti picked up 2 RBI on Sac Flies.

On a steamy day at Jim Rice Field, Brad "Thor" Presler dropped the hammer on the Braves for a complete game 2-1 victory.

Anderson scored in the 3rd on a Sac Fly off the bat of Smith and in the 7th on a single up the middle by Schools. Schools and Uberti had 2 hits apiece for the Braves.

Ahearn had 2 hits for the Minutemen.

The Braves improve to 2-0 as Mike Smith goes 5 strong (1 ER, 3 H, 7 K) to get the win in his Braves debut. His only blemish was a homer deep to right off the bat of Nick Ahearn in the 3rd.

Nine different Braves had hits in the game. Tied 1 all in the 6th, Risk clubbed a monster triple to left to start the Braves rally. RBI singles by Cashman, Kerbin, Caminiti, Anderson and Hudson pushed the Braves out on top for good.

Minutemen made it interesting in the 7th scoring 2 runs after loading the bases with no outs. Schlesinger stopped the bleeding with a strikeout, a ground out and a little help from his defense to earn the save. With 1 out and the bases still loaded, Levensaler singled to center to score one run, but a perfect relay from Anderson to Uberti to Risk cut down the runner from second trying to score.

Ahearn went 2-3 for the Minutemen with a homer, RBI and 2 runs scored.

Braves overcome some sloppy defense in the 3rd and come from behind against the Maddogs to earn a victory in their season opener. Lankarge goes the distance to pick up the win, allowing 4 hits, 0 ER, and striking out 4.

Maddogs score 2 in the 3rd with some help from the Braves defense. After a lead-off single by Hanley, the Braves commit 3 errors in a row. Lankarge managed to work out of the jam and limit the damage to only the 2 runs. Braves score one in the 6th on a Hudson RBI ground out and cap off the rally in the 7th on a Caminiti 3-run double.

In the 4th, Tracy turned in a web gem with a spectacular, full-extension, diving catch at second base.

Great start to the 2013 season for the Braves who manage their first opening day win in over a decade.
