Sabers offense explodes for 18 hits as they defeat the Black Sox 11-3

Ryan Flanagan pitched 4 solid innings, scattering 5 hits, letting up 1 run, striking out 5 Brighton batters, earning his 3rd win of the season. A congratulations to Flanagan who recorded his 100th career YBL strike out in the first inning!

Every Saber in the lineup recorded a hit on the night

The Sabers offense was lead by Stefan Botarelli who had 3 hits, 2RBIS and a triple. Jon Chapman who had 2 hits, 3 RBIS and scored 2 runs and Mike Robinson who had 4 hits, an RBI, scored a run and stole 2 bases

Braves bats come alive late, collecting 8 of their hits in the last 3 innings to top the Black Sox 4-1 at Rogers. Lankarge goes the distance allowing an unearned run and making his outfielders feel useless as all recorded outs were made by the infielders including some stellar defense at short by Lee.

Robb (3 hits) and Smith (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI) continue their hot streaks at the plate and extend their hitting streaks to 11 and 6 games, respectively. Lee collects 3 hits, scores twice and has an RBI for a superb all around game.

Sox plate a run in the 3rd on the lone error of the game. Braves score 2 in the 5th on RBI singles by Lee and Uberti. Smith then knocks in 2 insurance runs in the 7th on a double to right-center.

Hopwood, Cam Owens, JT Ross and Varakis had the hits for the Black Sox.

Braves make it 5 in a row as Frankie "Chuck Goode" C. makes another appearance to root on his beloved Braves.

Braves make it 4 in a row and improve to 10-9.

Chuck good! Smitty was dominant on the corners all night, as he went the distance, striking out 9, while allowing 0 ER and only 3 hits, for his 3rd win (3-3).

Baserunning blunders aside, the offense was persistent for the Braves, as they put up quality ABs all night vs. one of the YBL's premier pitchers. Robb went 2-4, 2B, 3 R, extending his hitting streak to 10 games. Smitty (2-4, R, RBI) & Uberti (3-4, R, 2 RBI) continue to heat up at the dish. RiskyBiz delivered the biggest blast of the night when he launched a triple over CF in the 7th inning to plate 2 runs.

Brighton, MA....The Knights traveled to Rodgers Park to complete the home and home series against the Black Sox. The Knights sent Steve Hueston to the bump and the Sox countered with Collin Geagan. Both pitchers did well but Hueston stole the show cruising through 7 innings earning the complete game victory keeping the Sox off balance all night.

Offensively for the Knights Wilson Mercado (2-3, BB, 1R, 1 RBI) continued his torrid pace and is now batting an even .400 on the season. Eduardo Colmenares also chipped in with 2 hits and an RBI of his own while playing stout defense behind the plate.

WALTHAM, MA....The Knights traveled to Brandeis for a home game vs the Brighton Black Sox. Taking the ball for the Knights was Kenny Luongo. Luongo went 5 strong allowing 4 runs, 2 earned. The Black Sox took advantage of some mistakes by the Knights defense to score 3 runs in the top of the second to take a 3 - 1 lead. The Knights fought back scoring 2 in the bottom of the 2nd on a Brad Tardugno single to leftcenter field. The Black Sox would tie things up in the 5th and Corey Laliberte would take over for Luongo in the 6th inning. Laliberte was solid especially in the top of the 7th with the bases loaded striking out pinch hitter Melo to end the inning. Ace DiNapoli would lead off the bottom of the 7th dropping a perfect bunt down the 3rd base line to give the Knights a runner one 1st with no out. Kenny Polanco would draw a walk to put runners on 1st and 2nd, setting the stage for Brad Tardugno to single home the winning run in walkoff

Braves walk off with an extra inning win in their home opener!

The Braves take the lead with a 4-run rally in the 3rd & hold it until the 7th when the Sox stage a great comeback to force extras. Down 5-2, with 1 out in the 7th & 2 men on, Gaffney smokes a triple to center, and then scores the tying run on a Hopwood single.

Leading off the 9th, Robb is HBP & Tracy works a BB. Then Hudson, after falling behind 0-2 attempting to bunt, laces a single into left to plate the winning run.

Greeley (1-0) picks up the W with 2 scoreless IP in relief of Smith. The Braves turned DPs behind him in the 8th & 9th to keep it tied. Returning to the Braves after spending 2012 in Georgia, Lee goes 3-4 and scores 2 runs. Schools (2-3, 2B, R, RBI), Hudson (2-4, R, GW-RBI), and Cashman (2-4, BB, RBI) all had multi-hit games, and Uberti picked up 2 RBI on Sac Flies.

The Sabers also welcomed newcomer Jolmi Minaya who came in to pick up his first career Yawkey League save. Minaya pitched 1 inning striking out 2 batters

Offensively Stoneham would push a run across in 5th with a Mike Robinson ground ball.

In the 6th with 1 out, the Sabers would load the bases when Travis Adams would single, Angelo Colucci would Double and Nick Schauwecker would get an intentional walk. Christian Gonzalez and Rob MacDonald would both get an RBI single each.

MacDonald had 3 hits and Colucci had 2 hits for Stoneham

Reichmann had the Sox only hit of the day

The Sox scored thier run in the third. Tim Varakis lead off the inning by reaching on an error. He was sacrificed to second by Kyle Ross and would score on a single to right by Will Baker.

Offensively for the Sox, Hopwood had two hits, with Reichmann, Genua, and Baker each had one hit.

Rich Wlodarczyk would suffer the tough luck loss yielding just the one unearned run on only five hits.

Offensively DesRoches had a 3-3 night and Dziuba a big sac fly. Addesa put down a great sac bunt to start the 2 run rally in the fifth!

Morse goes 4 strong to earn the win. Foundas and Sullivan pitch the 5th and 6th respectively and Tanguy picks up his first save of the year.

Grif as always is putting out a strong playoff team that is going to be tough to beat down the stretch!
