After stumbling a bit down the stretch, the Al Thomas Club stepped up when it needed to, defeating the South Boston Saints 7-2 to capture the last playoff spot.

Dan Gaughan threw 6 solid innings for his 6th win of the year, scattering 6 hits. Will Clang tossed a scoreless inning to end the game.

Chris McDonough's 2-run double in the 6-run 3rd inning put the A's up for good. After rbi's by Brendan Wheeler and Bill Donahue, Aidan Powers ripped a 2-run double to cap the scoring. Koury Hajjar added an rbi single.

Steve Lambert made 2 spectacular catches in centerfield.

Rob Stephenson led the Saints' offense with 2 hits.

Saints scratch claw and scrap together on a great effort by Rob "meat" Cahill on 3 days rest and Jon "pick things up and put them down" Tenney on a great relief work.
It came down to the bottom of the 10th and the saints needing a W before the lights went out. A walk by Tenney and perfect sac bunt by Ben Mendelson. After being moved over by Pete "mono" McAuliffe and a clutch game winning base hit by O'C.
Saints look to stay alive against the black sox Sunday at 1@Ronan.

saints come back from a 5 run deficit and a strong relief performance by the barking dogs owner John Miarecki. Remdog was upset most of the game maybe because the beacons were not sharing any of the diet coke they brought.

Even without Jim "the hammer" Farrell the saints were able to get a W behind a strong pitching performance by Tim "update" Dacey. Evans led the way with a HR and 2 RBI's and Tenney also contributed with 3 hits and without an RBI and not so stellar baserunning.

Figueroa led the Asros with 2 hits.

Facing a very tough South Boston team, Malden Bulldogs were down 2-0 going into the 6th inning but broke through with 5 runs in the 6th and 3 more in the 7th. Lead by John Maryanski 2 for 2 (double and triple) with 2 Rbi's and 2 HBP. Kenny Luongo coming off major foot surgery went 3 for 4 and pitched the last inning. Patrick Shanahan goes 2 solid innings for the win.

A strong start on the hill for Miller followed by 3 innings of relief for Aldoupolis were enough to keep the Saint bats down long enough to end the Dodgers' skid and get them back on track for a playoff run. Mike "DJ Bubbles" Navarro had 2 hits, 2 steals and an RBI.

But Joey "Cupcakes" Patrolia had the big hit of the day with a shot slammed through the moist gap in right center for a 2nd-inng Home Run.

An 11 inning pitcher's duel. Geoghan went 7 innings for South Boston allowing only 1 run. Tenney came in to pitch in the bottom of the 8th and held Medford for three innings before giving up the winning run in the 11th on a bases loaded single by Marty Dunlap.

Talal Saleh got the win after pitching a scoreless 11th inning. But the story tonight was Maddog pitcher Mike Victory. Victory pitched 10 innings, allowing only 1 run, striking out 9 and walking 4.

Wilson had 3 hits for Medford, Buddy Hanley and Matt Mahoney each had two hits.

Surprisingly all the lights were on and working at Ronan the Saints were caught in the bright lights with stoneham jumping out to a 4-2 lead. "update" Dacey settled down giving the bats a chance in the 6th. Miarecki coming out of the pen after dusting off the cob webs off his glove and arm got out of a bases loaded 6th. After whitter gave up consecutive walks Zach " bud heavy" Wintrow laid down a perfect bunt loading the bases.
After an run off an error and Stephenson loosening up in the shadows Farrell rushes to the plate before coach Tenney whose on 3rd makes a move Farrell swings at the first two connecting with the second with a line drive up the middle putting the Saints up for good.
Miarecki finishing the 7th sealing the victory pleasing the fans at sold out Ronan Park. Come see the saints take on Althomas tomorrow and after the game kids can run the movable bases wit Jon Tenney and Rob Stephenson.

Andrew larocque reached all 4 times with a stolen base and a web gem play at third. Saints look forward to the home opener at the friendly confines of Ronan park tomorrow with none other than Tim "update" Dacey. Free Dan Zakrzwski bobble heads to the first three fans. SOUTH BOSTON, MA....The East Boston Knights win a close one against the Saints at King Field. Knights starter Branden Eaton was sharp in this one going all seven innings for the win. Tyler Higgins got the offense going for the Knights in the 1st with a single and added to his stolen base lead to set up a sac fly from Chris Dowd to give the Knights a 1 - 0 lead. The Saints would answer back in the bottom of the inning with a Steve Busby homerun that knotted the game at 2. The score would stay that way until the 6th when Chris Dowd stepped to the plate and launched his 4th Yawkey League homerun to give the Knights a 2 - 1 lead. The Saints did not go away however, in the bottom of the 7th with runners on first and second with two out, Southies Larocque singled to left and Chris Dowd fired a strike to 3b Ace DiNapoli who relayed the ball home for the final out of the game.

Eastie and Southie will do it again on Monday night in Eastie

Braves come out on top in a back and forth affair with the Saints at McConnell. Aggressive base running at 3rd by Braves newcomer Alex Lee on a wild pitch plates the Braves first run. Saints took the lead in the 2nd on back to back hits by Wintrow and Schwind. Braves tie it up and take the lead on a Lee Sac Fly in the 3rd and a Tracy RBI ground out in the 4th. Saints tie it up in the 5th on a Klaes base hit which deflects off the glove of Cashman at third. A. Larocque tries to score from second but Lee tracks down the ball in shallow left field and makes a strong throw home to gun him down at the plate. Braves take the lead for good in the 6th after Cashman's (2-2 2 R, 2-3B, BB) 2nd triple of the night followed by a Tracy liner over the second baseman.

Lankarge pitches strong for 5 innings (7 H, 2 SO) to get the win and Perlis comes in for the save (2 IP, 0 H, 1 BB, 1 K).

Klaes and Schwind lead the Saints offense with 2 hits each.

Connor Reinfurt had another multi-hit game that included his Yawkey League best 7th double of '11 and Kyle Power smashed a 2-run homer to deep right at McConnell as the Beacons bounce back to win a division game by a score of 9-4 vs. South Boston. James Dalton earned his 3rd win of the season and Kevin Loveless picked up his first save and maintained his repertoire of scoreless innings. The McKay Club are now 10-3.

It got 'interesting' in the 5th, but the Beacons held off a strong rally by the Saints to preserve the win.

Next up for the McKay Club are the Brighton Minutemen on Wednesday night at Rogers Park. Rookie, Thomas Fitzpatrick, on the bump.

Blaine McLean goes to 2-0 with a gutsy performance at Cleveland Circle. McLean went 6 innings, allowing only 4 hits, while walking only 1 and striking out 5. Blaine stranded runners on third base 3 times.

Mike Victory pitched the 7th inning, striking out the side.

The offense was led by the first four hitters in the line up. Dunlap, Cunningham, Matt Delaney and Hanley each had 2 hits. Mahoney also had a big two out single to drive in a run and Matt Taylor got into the hit column as well.

Farrell pitched well for South Boston after settling down after a rocky first inning.

SOMERVILLE, MA- Chris Warren and Ted Dziuba led Somerville to a 4-1 win over South Boston. Warren pitched 5 scoreless innings allowing only 3 hits for his second win of the season. Dziuba knocked in 3 of the 4 runs with two of them coming from a triple in the 3rd. Jay Wisner picked up the save.

Bryan Evans and Ryan O'Connor both had multi hit games for the Saints.

Miscues in the field were made up at the dish as the Beacons exploded for 12 runs (25 in the past 2 games) to tame the division-rival South Boston Saints. A 6-run rally in the 5th put the staple in this one as Mike Barthel earned his 2nd win of the season that was complemented by solid relief courtesy of Jonathan "Big Baby" Pelletier and rookie, Tommy Moriarty. 39-yo YBL vet JOHN NEE plated 2 on a single to right center in the 6th to prove he still has it! Bryan Curran and Drew Tambling scored on each plate appearance...no complaints there!

After a lively first inning which would provide all of the offense for the evening, both teams settled in for a pitchers duel. The Dodgers rode Jon "The Parkway" Merritt to their second straight win to open the 2011 season to the tune of 5 innings, 2 ER and 7 Ks. South Boston countered with Jimmy Farrell's 6 innings, 3 ER and 3 Ks.
In relief of Merritt, Jamie Aldopoulis threw 2 innings of straight feta for the save.
