Brighton, MA - The Malden Bulldogs secured the top spot in the 2010 YBL playoffs tonight as they beat the Brighton Minutemen, 9-2.
Brad Tardugno added to his spectacular season as he went 2-for-3 with a 2B and 2 RBI. The potential 2010 YBL player of the year, finished with a .424 average and the YBL leader in home runs (6), RBI (47) and 2B (12).
Rob Mondello (3-0) picked up the win in relief of Pat Shanahan. Jon Shepard pitched a perfect seventh for the Bulldogs. |

Malden, MA - Evan Tardugno pitched five strong innings as the Malden Bulldogs improved to 12-2 on the year after beating the Brighton Minutemen tonight, 6-0.
Brad Tardugno paced the Bulldog offense as he was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Jonathan Pollard had a solid day in his 2-for-2 night including knocking in two RBIs.
Evan Tardugno struck out seven Minutemen as he improved his record to 3-1 in 2010. Jon Shepard recorded his third save as he came in with the bases loaded with no one out in the sixth. Shepard struck out in his two innings of work. |

The Dodgers win a crazy one at The Cliff, beating the Minutemen in come-back/walk-off fashion. Brighton got off to a quick start against Dodger starter Chris Michienzi. CF Brad Reynolds (0-1, 3 R, 3 BB, SB) and 2B Geoff Lopes (2-3, R, BB, RBI) led the Brighton offense, who led 6-0 after the top of the 4th.
The Dodgers got great relief from Steve DeFusco, who came on with two-out and a runner on in the 4th. After getting out of the jam, DeFusco (W, 1-0) went on to strike out 6 batters and allow 1 hit in 3.1 innings of work, keeping Beacon Hill in the game.
The Dodgers scored in all of the final 4 innings, finally getting to Brighton starter Brendan Flemming, who cruised through the first three frames. SS Mike Navarro (1-4, R, SB, RBI) had the GW-single in the bottom of the 7th to plate CF Jay Shatto (1-3, R, 2 BB, SB). Dodger 3B Jerrad Ryan (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI) had a key 2-out single during the big rally, and LF Gregg Smith had 2 hits. |

Mike Navarro and Nick Tapper both had 2 hit 1 RBI games for the Dodgers. The Dodgers also put in a stellar performance in the field, highlighted by 2 diving catches by Jay Shatto, and a outfield assist cutting down what would have been a leadoff triple by Nick Runyan in the 3rd. Minutemen pitcher Brandan Flemming pitched well in the loss, striking out 5 and leaving runners in scoring position in multiple innings. |
