Waltham Red Sox 2, Natick Knights 1
Took 13 innings to find a winner, included great pitching & D and walkoff hit.
Sox get 1 in 1st & that was it for a LONG time. Natick had several leadoff batters on all day but some double plays would hurt their efforts. They tied the game in the 4th on a sac fly.
Mike Caccavelli threw 12 innings holding Waltham offense to just 1 run. Tom Dowey & Mike Barthel combined to allow 1 run for Waltham with Barthel going 8 innings in relief.
Bobby "Beetle" Lebrun makes a great running catch in left center & Colin Confoey snagged one himself in the same gap as the Waltham outfield made those gaps narrow today. Confoey also made a great throw to the plate that might have had the runner tagging but Karpo couldn't quite hold on.
Bottom of 13, Blaine in relief. Levensaler reaches on an error, goes to 2nd on bunt then 3rd on a flyout. Josh Leet hits a fly ball single in left center gap and Waltham grabs a 13 inning, walkoff, 2-1 win. |

Waltham Red Sox 10, Boston Bombers 3
After the soccer players disband, Waltham and East Boston squared off on the turf.
Waltham took a 6-0 lead but EB put up 3 in one inning to cut the lead in half. The Sox answered with some runs of their own and end up getting a 10-3 win with Dana Levensaler going the distance on the hill to move to 4-1 on the season.
Josh Leet (2-3, BB, 2R, 3RBI) made several nice plays at 3B and along with Mike Barthel and Miguel Walker all had 2 hits each. Leet also homered as did Bobby Lebrun. Torrance Mcneil (3-5, 1R, 2RBI) and Dana Levensaler (3-5, 2R, 2RBI, 2B, 3B) continue to keep pace with one another in the hit category, adding 3 each but Torrance will be reminding Dana all year that the backstop at East Boston is close as evidence of him being thrown out at the plate on a past ball. |

Waltham Red Sox 10, Boston Bombers 0
The two best records in the league squared off at Nipper. Mark Fitzpatrick throws a gem and the bats come alive to get Waltham a 10-0 win.
Fitzy allows just 2 hits through 7 innings and was hitting spots in the zone.
The bats pounded out 18 hits led by Torrance Mcneil and Dana Levensaler who each had 3 hits.
Rematch coming this Wednesday at East Boston.

Sun, 16 May, 9:00AM, at Brockton - Edgars Field
Waltham Red Sox 18, Brockton Indians 6
9am comes early in Brockton (especially if you're out til 4:30) and Waltham must have left their gloves at home so it's a good thing they brought the bats.
Countless errors and several non-error miscues might have made this one of the worse defensive games Waltham has ever played with the exception of a Colin Confoey diving catch in center and a nice running catch by Miguel Walker in left, but they did pack the bats.
Brockton had an early lead until the Waltham bats woke up. Dana Levensaler led the way going 4-5 and picked up the win on the hill and Mike Barthel had a multi hit game. |

Waltham Red Sox 7, Wayland White Sox 3
Waltham breaks their usual "Mark Teixeira-esque" slow start by an opening day win over Wayland.
Mark Fitzpatrick throws 5 strong for the win and the offense had guys on base all day. 6 new additions, Colin Confoey, Keith Karpowich, Tarez & Torrance Mcneil, Chad Conner and Miguel Walker all were heavily involved by getting on and hitting the ball hard. |
