It took extra innings, 11 to be exact, to settle this barn-burner between the hometown Cantabs and the visiting Somerville Senators. The Sens took an early 5-2 lead through the top half of the 4th only to see the Cantabs knot the score at 5-5. When the Cantabs took a 3-run lead of their own going into the top of the 8th, it was the Senators who came surging back to tie it at 8-8. It wasn't until the bottom of the 11th that Frank Rich (4-5, 2 RBI) ended it with a walk-off single to plate the winning run.

It was a monstrous day for hitters on both sides, as the two clubs combined for 32 hits. For the Cantabs, Frank Rich (4), Jeff Rausch (2), Dan Field (2) and Sean Curtin (2) had multi-hit games. On the Senators' side, Mark Moise, Michael Kalfopoulos, and Joe Stanton collected 3 hits apiece.
